If it feels like the public was betting on this NFL matchup a year ago, that’s because they were. It’s deja vu all over again as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers open the season with a Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

The only change is the location. Last year’s Week 1 game was played at Tampa Bay. This one is in Dallas.

What hasn’t changed is the favorite. A year ago, reigning Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay was a 9.5-point home favorite over Dallas. This year, the Buccaneers are two-point road favorites in the Week 1 NFL odds.

Kickoff for this game at AT&T Stadium is set for 8:20pm ET. The weather forecast is calling for clear skies, 3 mph wind and a temperature of 90 degrees. NBC is carrying the broadcast, but it can also be streamed via fuboTV. In Canada, the action is available through DAZN.

ATS Showing Up and Down Movement

Tampa Bay opened as the 1.5-point chalk at Dallas. That line grew to as much as Buccaneers -2.5. However, then it settled back down to the opening line of Tampa Bay -1.5. A late surge, though, has moved the line back up to Tampa Bay -2.

In last year’s meeting, the Buccaneers were 8.5-point picks at home. However, they were only able to fashion a 31-29 victory. That result didn’t cover in that game, but a similar outcome would get the job this time around.

Public Betting All Over the Under

The total opened at 50.5 points but has since lowered a half-point point to 50. That drop is likely being driven by the massive amount of public betting handle going down on the under.

The under is drawing a whopping 91% of the total handle in the NFL public betting splits. Weirdly, though, there’s 61% of public bets supporting the over.

Based on last year’s game, the over would seem to be the play to make here. The Buccaneers and Cowboys accounted for 60 points in that game.

Last season, Tampa Bay went over in 10 games and Dallas on eight occasions. As a home team, the Cowboys were 5-4 on the total. On the road, the Buccaneers went over in four of nine games.

Moneyline Movement Increasing for Buccaneers Over Cowboys

When considering how to wager on this SNF Buccaneers vs Cowboys odds, take into account the opening NFL moneylines were Tampa Bay -124 and Dallas +106. Currently, the moneylines are Buccaneers -135 and Cowboys +115.

Public money is somewhat uncertain when it comes to moneyline wagering. The public betting splits are backing the Buccaneers at 61%. However, the moneyline handle on the game is showing that it’s split right down the middle at 50-50.

There are a number of Buccaneers vs Cowboys player props to wager upon, and there’s one betting trend that the public should definitely be keeping in mind when wagering on this game – Buccaneers QB Tom Brady is 6-0 straight up in his career when facing Dallas.
