Tonight’s Monday Night Football double-headers starts with an intriguing clash between the Houston Texans (0-1, 0-1 ATS, 0-1 O/U) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0, 1-0 ATS, 1-0 O/U) at NRG Stadium in Houston at 5:00 pm ET.
Below, I have set out the main Buccaneers vs Texans player props for the skill-position players. Under the table, find my three favorite Tampa Bay vs Houston props to bet tonight.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Houston Texans Player Props
NFL player props as of September 15 at DraftKings.
Buccaneers vs Texans Player Prop Pick #1: C.J. Stroud UNDER 231.5 Passing Yards (-115 at BetMGM)
CJ Stroud faces a tough test against a disciplined Tampa Bay defense. In Week 1, Stroud posted a subpar 74.3 passer rating, struggling to generate big plays against a Rams defense that kept everything in front of them. The Buccaneers’ defense, which held Michael Penix Jr to a 93.2 passer rating, excels at creating pressure without blitzing heavily, a formula that can disrupt a young quarterback’s timing.
Stroud’s passing line is as low as 226.5 at DraftKings. BetMGM is gifting us an extra five yards with almost the same juice.
- Pick: Stroud under 226.5 passing yards (-112) at DraftKings
Tampa Bay vs Houston Player Prop Pick #2: Bucky Irving UNDER 65.5 Rushing Yards (-118 at Caesars)
Houston held its Week 1 opponent (LA Rams) to just 2.9 yards per carry. LA’s RB1 Kyren Williams had 66 yards but needed 18 carries to get there. Buckey Irving only had 18-plus carries in three of 18 games last season, including playoffs.
Tampa Bay’s ground game was ineffective against the Falcons; Irving and Rachaad White combined for just 51 yards on 16 carries (3.1 YPC), with Irving averaging a mere 2.6 yards per carry on his 14 totes. Mayfield’s scrambling ability was the only effective running game for Tampa in Week 1.
Irving’s rush-yards O/U is as low as 63.5 at some books. Caesars has the him listed at a line of 65.5 with the under juiced at a reasonable -118.
Houston has only allowed one running back to go over 65.5 yards in their last six games, and that was Baltimore’s Derrick Henry.
Buccaneers vs Texans Player Prop Pick #3: Collins UNDER 77.5 Receiving Yards (-110 at DraftKings)
Houston’s top receiver, Nico Collins, will draw a tough assignment against the Buccaneers’ top corners. His receiving-yards prop opened at 78.5 and has been bet down to 77.5, which still isn’t low enough.
As mentioned above, I firmly expect the Tampa Bay pass rush to hound Stroud all night long, attenuating Collins’ deep-threat ability. I expect Collins to get more than the five targets he received in Week 1, especially with TE Cade Stover (four targets in Week 1) added to an injury list that already includes Tank Dell and Braxton Berrios.
But those targets aren’t likely to come 20 yards downfield.
