The Los Angeles Chargers (1-2 SU, 1-2 O/U in 2024 preseason) and Detroit Lions (2-1 SU, 2-1 O/U in 2024 preseason) meet in the annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, on Thursday, July 31st (8:00 pm ET). The 2025 Hall of Fame Game will be simulcast on NBC and Peacock.

The Chargers vs Lions point spread opened with Detroit as a 1.5-point neutral-site favorite. Roughly 24 hours from kickoff, that betting line is moving towards the favorite.

LAC vs DET Line Movement

After opening at Detroit -1.0, the spread quickly moved to Detroit -2.0 at most sportsbooks, including bet365.

The moneyline is also moving towards the Lions, who opened as slight -112 favorites and are now as short as -135. The Chargers have faded from -108 to +115.

The total has seen the most movement. It opened at just 32.0 and is now as high as 33.5 at Caesars. As I set out in the betting-splits table below, it’s possible that number will rise even higher; the vast majority of money is currently on the over.

Each of the last three HOF Games have gone over 33.5. But that was preceded by three straight which stayed under 33.5.

The NFL public betting splits paint an interesting portrait for the 2025 Hall of Fame Game. The public is putting the majority of moneyline tickets on the favored Lions, but the underdog Chargers are getting 65% of moneyline handle (on just 35% of the bets).

The game-total splits heavily lean to the over, both in terms of wagers (85%) and handle (89%).

The ATS splits have yet to be reported, but will be added to the table above when available.
