The 2025 NFL season is just hours away. Week 1 lines have been open since May, which means the public has had roughly four months to bet on the season-opener between the Dallas Cowboys and reigning Super Bowl-champion Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles, who opened as seven-point favorites, are now laying 8.5 at most books (as many as 9.5 at others) thanks in part to Dallas trading away its best defensive player, Micah Parsons. Even at that increased number, tonight’s betting splits still show the public hammering Philadelphia both against the spread and on the moneyline.

Cowboys vs Eagles Public-Betting Splits
Thursday’s NFL public betting percentages show the Eagles getting 62% of ATS handle and an equal 62% of ATS wagers. The moneyline divide is even more pronounced; the Eagles are commanding 90% of moneyline handle and a staggering 94% of moneyline wagers, due in part to the Philadelphia moneyline getting thrown into countless parlays, no doubt.
The over/under splits show the public heavily backing the under; 73% of game-total money and 81% of wagers are on the under so far. That was likely flipped early on when the total opened at 44.5, with the inflated number attracting plenty of buy-back on the under.

DAL vs PHI Injury Reports
Non-rookies who didn’t play a snap in the NFL last season have been omitted from the injury lists.
The Cowboys are in considerably worse shape, injury-wise, heading into the opening game of the season. With the departure of Parsons, increased pressure falls on Dallas’ remaining pass rushers. Unfortunately, DeMarvion Overshown, the only returning Cowboys with at least five sacks last season, is already out with a torn ACL.
The Cowboys will also be without rookie running back Phil Mafah out of Clemson. Though he was only a seventh-round pick, Mafah had a good chance to see touches given the other names in the Dallas running back room; uninspiring veterans Javonte Williams and Myles Sanders are currently 1-2 on the depth chart.
Dallas will also be without guard Rob Jones, who played nearly 95% of offensive snaps on the Cowboys’ O-line last season.
The only Philadelphia injury of any consequence is middle linebacker Nakobe Dean, who finished second on the team in tackles (128) last year and T3 in tackles-for-loss (9), while chipping in with three sacks and four pass breakups. Second-year pro Jeremiah Trotter Jr (25 tackles, 0.5 sacks in 2024) takes his place. Trotter was a fifth-round pick out of Clemson in the 2024 draft.
