Eagles Continue To Be A Mess

The Eagles are a three-win right now and the general thinking was that when they started to get healthy, they’d be the best in the NFC East. After all, they still have a veteran roster with what was deemed to be a quality quarterback along with the best defense. However, a big hole was poked in that theory last week.

Philadelphia was returning off a bye last Sunday, about as healthy as they had been all season long. They were favored at home against the lowly New York Giants and not only did the lose the game, they were barely even in it. Facing a two-win team, the Eagles barely mustered 17 points. They failed to convert a single third down (0-for-9).

Concerns have been raised about the play of Carson Wentz, whose play has been disastrous. His MVP-like 2018 season is a distant memory as he enters Week 11 with just 12 touchdown passes on the year along with 12 interceptions and a lousy 50.3 QBR (27th in the NFL). The Eagles’ offense ranks 27th overall and 24th in points per game. That’s not good enough given the parts they have.

Browns Dealing With Injuries, COVID-19

The Eagles will catch a break this week as the Browns are going to be without a number of key contributors. They’ve been without star wideout Odell Beckham Jr. for weeks (out for the season) and now they’ll be without Myles Garrett (COVID-19). Garrett has 9.5 sacks, which leads the NFL, while the rest of the team has 12.5 sacks combined.

Beyond that, the team could also be without kicker Cody Parkey and tackle Jack Conklin, although those players are trending towards playing. However, if those two are also out, the Browns’ chances of winning are going to take a big hit.

What’s The Best Bet?

As of the latest projections, the forecast suggests that there will be rain during the game with winds of 10 miles per hour. That indicates the running games will come into focus and the passing games will take a back seat.

The Browns field one of the best rush offenses, ranking third in the NFL with 159 yards per game. Meanwhile, the Eagles’ run defense has been quite frail, giving up 133.0 per game (26th in the NFL) on the year and 148.0 over their last three contests (27th).

Look for the Browns to hammer away on the ground. While it won’t be pretty, they’ll find a way to edge the struggling Eagles.

Prediction: Browns -2.5 (-118)
