All eyes will be on Paul Brown Stadium Thursday night when the Cincinnati Bengals (2-1) host the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-3). Kickoff from Cincinnati, Ohio is scheduled for 8:20 PM EST on NFL Network.
The Jaguars looked to be on the verge of upsetting the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday in Jacksonville but ultimately feel short, 31-19. They had a 13-7 lead at halftime only to watch it disappear in the second half. Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bengals beat up on the division rival Pittsburgh Steelers 24-10 in a game that was never really close.
This game opened with the Bengals installed as 2.5-point favorites but has been bet all the way up to Cincinnati -7.5 at most places. There is obviously little to no faith in the Jacksonville Jaguars in the betting community at this point in the season.
It’s also notable that the total has dropped from 47 to 45.5 even though more bets have come in on the over. Â As always, there are plenty of player props to consider.

Joe Mixon Time
There are two running backs in the NFL that are getting force fed carries. Derrick Henry and Joe Mixon. So far this season, both running backs have at least 15 carries more than the closest back to them and it’s only been three games. I guess when your back can do this, you give him the ball.

I think the Cincinnati Bengals are going to cover the 7.5 points in this game, so naturally I expect a positive game script for Mixon. It’s not just the positive game script that will get us home on this number though. Cincinnati had a positive game script last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Mixon only had 18 carries.
Pace of play was an issue last week as the Steelers are 32nd in the league in pace in the first half. Mixon only carries the ball seven times in the opening half partly because the Bengals only ran 10 plays in the second quarter. One of those plays saw Joe Burrow kneel to end the half. That is highly unlikely to happen again.
Besides game script and pace, we also have the fact that the Jaguars just aren’t very good stopping the run. For instance, the Steelers were able to stop Mixon which contributed to his low carry total in the first half. They’re number six in the NFL in run defense DVOA while the Jaguars are 15th. I think Joe Mixon will run wild Thursday night and easily cash his rush attempt prop.

Mixon Will Also Find the End Zone
The touchdown prop bet is a must for any primetime game as it just spices up the game in a way that no other bet can. It’s just exciting!
The strategy for this game will be to back a guy that could score in a multiple ways. That somebody is a guy that we already talked about in the last section, Joe Mixon.
He’s not just a threat on the ground, but also through the air.

At -165 odds, this is about the shortest price I will go on a touchdown scorer but Mixon is set up really well here. Only one team in the NFL has given up more rushing touchdowns (4) to opposing running backs than the Jacksonville Jaguars (Ravens).
When teams get down there, they know they can punch it in but they could also throw it to the running back like the Houston Texans did with David Johnson in Week 1.
I think Mixon is a strong bet to score a touchdown Thursday night.
