After a midweek trade sent Jarvis Brownlee from the Titans to the Jets, the cornerback will have to wait to make his New York debut. Brownlee played Weeks 1 and 2, recording 17 total tackles and a pass deflection as the Titans lost both games.

Jermaine Johnson’s pass-rushing prowess will be missed as he will miss his 17th game in two seasons. When he was healthy in 2023, Johnson played in all 17 games, recording 7.5 sacks and making the Pro Bowl. Without Johnson, the Jets are relying on Will McDonald and Micheal Clemons to generate pressure off the edge.

Kene Nwangwu’s absence will be felt in the return game. He has four career kick-return touchdowns including one last season. He was a second-team All-Pro returner back in 2022.

An already-thin Dolphins secondary is continuing to deal with injuries. Starters Storm Duck and Jason Marshall have been ruled out. Ethan Bonner is also dealing with an injury, so the Dolphins might have to rely on veterans Rasul Douglas and Cornell Armstrong on the backend.

The Dolphins already had one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL, allowing a whopping 7.9 net yards per pass attempt. They have allowed six passing touchdowns and zero interceptions so far.

As of Monday morning, the ATS handle leans toward Miami in the NFL public betting splits. The Dolphins are getting 56% of the ATS handle as 2.5-point home favorites, with 56% of the bets coming in on the home team. The Jets are getting 44% of the handle with 44% of the bets.

The public is largely on the under. The under accounts for 62% of the total handle on 68% of bets. The over accounts for 38% of the total handle with 32% of bets. My colleague Chris Amberley is on the public’s side – taking under 45.5 in his Jets vs Dolphins Picks & Predictions, while Sascha Paruk appears to be backing a higher-scoring game in his Jets vs Dolphins Player Props.
