Travis Kelce just locked down the biggest catch of his life, but that won’t necessarily help him beat press coverage. The 35-year-old Chiefs tight end is coming off the worst statistical season of his career with just 823 yards and three touchdowns.
Now the books have set his 2025-26 receiving yards props even lower, with FanDuel at 675.5 and DraftKings at 700.5, suggesting more decline ahead. Could the engagement provide the boost Kelce needs for an epic rebound season?
Let’s dive into the Swift-Kelce engagement news, the Chiefs star’s updated 2025-26 NFL season props and our betting predictions.
Kelce & Swift Officially Engaged
The couple announced their engagement this morning on Instagram with the caption “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The photos showed Kelce on one knee with Swift sporting what looks like a serious rock. The timing couldn’t be better for a potential bounce-back season.
Swift plans to attend more games in 2025, according to Chiefs president Mark Donovan, who said she’ll “be there a lot more” now that she’s not touring. The Chiefs went on their championship run in 2023 with Swift regularly in attendance, so maybe there’s something to the good luck charm theory.
Clark Hunt echoed this sentiment, noting Swift “wouldn’t be surprised to see her at most of the games” this season.

Kelce Projections Show Stabilization
The books have significant disagreement on Kelce’s receiving yards total, with FanDuel at 675.5 and DraftKings 25 yards higher at 700.5. That’s roughly 40-41 yards per game over 17 contests. The touchdown prop at 4.5 is heavily juiced to the over at both books, suggesting oddsmakers expect positive regression after his three-touchdown campaign last year.
RotoWire projects him for 74 receptions, 728 yards, and five touchdowns. That’s a slight uptick from the FanDuel prop lines and suggests he’ll remain a reliable red zone target for Patrick Mahomes. His ADP sits at 84th overall, making him the seventh tight end off the board.
These numbers are obviously down from his peak years when he averaged 106 catches and 1,280 yards from 2018 to 2022. The projections account for increased target competition from Rashee Rice’s return and Xavier Worthy’s sophomore development.
PFF Data Shows Decline But Not Disaster
The advanced metrics tell a story of aging but not obsolescence. Kelce’s PFF receiving grade dropped to 70.5 last season, placing him sixth in fantasy points per game among tight ends. His yards after catch fell to 3.5 per reception, down from 5.0-6.2 during his prime years.
Most notably, he managed just four avoided tackles all season after averaging 15.7 per game from 2014-2023. The explosiveness is gone, but his route-running intelligence and chemistry with Mahomes keep him relevant.
His route participation dropped to 62%, and his yards per route run fell to 1.48 from 2.27 in 2021. Despite these declines, he still led all tight ends with 26 red zone targets. That’s where his value lies now. He’s a possession receiver and red zone weapon rather than a field-stretcher.
Travis Kelce Betting Predictions 2025-26
Ed Kelce claims his son will have “one of the best seasons Travis has ever had.” That’s optimistic dad talk, but a return to elite status seems unlikely.
Kelce himself admitted he ‘regressed’ last year and felt like he ‘let guys down,’ especially after being a non-factor in the Super Bowl loss to Philadelphia. At least he’s self-aware about the decline.
Here’s how Kelce’s recent production compares to his peak:
Kelce Season Stats 2020-2025
The Chiefs are +850 to win the Super Bowl and -115 favorites to take the AFC West. They remain contenders, and Kelce’s veteran poise continues to provide value in big moments. Patrick Mahomes will continue looking his way in the red zone, where trust matters more than athleticism.
Avoid betting the receiving yards props entirely. We project Kelce right around 700 yards, making both lines risky. The engagement story is heartwarming, and Swift’s increased presence might boost team morale, but it won’t restore the athletic ability that Father Time has claimed.
Andy Reid knows the Chiefs need Kelce healthy for the postseason, and at 35, his regular-season snaps could be managed more carefully. But the touchdown prop offers value. Kelce still commands respect in the red zone, and three touchdowns were absurdly low for someone who saw 26 red zone targets. Expect positive regression there.
Kelce Prop Pick:
- Over 4.5 Receiving TDs (-140 at DraftKings)
