When it comes to Week 3 on the NFL calendar, schedule makers saved the best for last. The Detroit Lions (1-1, 0-1 away) will face the Baltimore Ravens (1-1, 1-0 home) on Monday Night Football in the marquee matchup of the week. Both teams are coming off impressive blowout wins, and online sportsbooks expect Baltimore’s success to continue in the latest Monday Night Football odds.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15pm ET from M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD, with ESPN and ABC providing the broadcast coverage.

The Ravens are currently favored by 5.5-points and are -240 chalk on the moneyline. Detroit comes back as a +198 underdog, while the total sits at 52.5. According to the NFL public betting percentages, the ATS betting handle is split, while Baltimore is drawing the majority (63%) of ATS tickets. I’m going to forego wagering on a side in this matchup and focus on the total, as I believe both offenses will be tough to stop.

Lions vs Ravens Injury Reports

One of the reasons I’m bullish on a high-scoring game is the Ravens’ injury report. They’ll be down a pair of Pro Bowl pass rushers in Nnamdi Madubuike (neck) and Kyle Van Noy (hamstring), and if you give Jared Goff time to throw he’ll carve you up.

The Lions’ defense is dealing with a handful of significant injuries, as well. Starting edge rusher Marcus Davenport (chest) has been ruled out, while a trio of other starters are questionable: middle linebacker Jack Campbell (ankle), right cornerback DJ Reed (knee), and free safety Kerby Joseph (knee).

The offenses are in much better shape by comparison.

Lions vs Ravens Prediction & Picks

• Over 52.5 (-110 at DraftKings)

Case and point, last week against the Bears. Goff did not take a sack and was rarely pressured, and the results were devastating for the Chicago defense. Goff threw for 334 yards and 5 TD, while posting a perfect quarterback rating. Detroit scored a staggering 52 points, and looked the juggernaut offense that terrorized the league in 2024.

Contrast that performance to Week 1, where the Packers pass rush was in Goff’s face all afternoon. Detroit didn’t score a touchdown until the final minute of the game, and Goff averaged only 5.8 yards per attempt.

The last time these two Super Bowl odds contenders played the Ravens lived in the Lions backfield, sacking Goff 5 times. He posted one of the lowest QBR’s of his entire career as Baltimore rolled to a 38-6 win. The Ravens were already struggling to generate pressure with a healthy Madubuike and Van Noy, so their absences will be a major hurdle for the Baltimore defense to overcome.

On the other side of the ball, there’s just no slowing down NFL MVP odds threat Lamar Jackson and Co. The Ravens offense is averaging a league-high 40.5 points per game, and are just as likely to beat you through the air as they are on the ground.

Lamar Jackson 2025 Stats

Jackson enters play tied with Goff for the most TD passes in the league (6), while Derrick Henry has scored 20 times in 19 regular season games since joining Baltimore. The Ravens hung 38 points on Detroit when they last met two years ago, and that was without the threat of Henry.

Digging in to the expected points added stats reveals Jackson is the last quarterback you want to face. Lamar leads all QB’s in EPA per drop back by a wide margin, after finishing second in that metric in 2024. Jackson is nearly impossible to gameplan for and has dominated NFC teams that only see him once every few years.

Jackson is 24-2 all-time against NFC opposition, the best mark of any QB since interconference play began in 1970. He’s 2-0 in his career versus Detroit, with a 5-to-1 TD-to-INT rate, and has been unbelievable in prime time. Jackson has thrown 22 touchdown passes and no interceptions in nine games on Monday Night Football as a starter. The Ravens are 22-3 in prime time at home under John Harbaugh, and have reeled off five straight wins on MNF.

Bottom line, Baltimore is a well oiled machine offensively, while their defensive injuries leave the light on for a big performance from Goff and the Lions. Given Lamar’s dominance over the NFC I wouldn’t fault anyone for backing the Ravens, but I’ll take over 52.5 as my preferred Lions vs Ravens pick.
