So, the Los Angeles Chargers vs Arizona Cardinals matchup on Sunday will feature some nice weather.

Though the Chargers have been mediocre, they are still 3-point road favorites vs the Cardinals.

Honestly, the Chargers and Cardinals have not fared well as they face each other to stay in the playoff hunt.

Both teams have some injury issues. Mike Williams remains out from practice for San Diego (ankle) while Zach Ertz is out for the season for Arizona (knee).

Los Angeles Chargers vs Arizona Cardinals gets started Sunday from State Farm Stadium at 4:25pm ET, in a game that can be seen live on CBS.

Los Angeles’ odds have been shifting around from 2.5 to 3 points. The over shifted to 48 and expect it to stay there barring something unforeseen.

So, the NFL Betting Trends curve a bit toward the road team. 85% of the money placed is for the Chargers but overall, 88% of the bets are on the Los Angeles moneyline and 56% on the over for Sunday.

Chargers Betting Outlook

This game now is a must-win for the Chargers and coach Brandon Staley. Many probably did not think Los Angeles would be 5-5 and yet, it happened.

After winning three straight games, the Chargers have lost three out of their last four contests. They have given up 27.3 points per game during that span.

Last week, the Chargers’ defense went to mush against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Overall, Los Angeles ranks 30th against the run with mobile quarterbacks terrorizing the Los Angeles second level (secondary in particular). The Chargers pass defense comes in not as bad, but still, 19th in yards allowed and 22nd in passing touchdowns is not great.

What can help Los Angeles is if the offense can keep the defense off the field. Justin Herbert should have success against the Arizona defense. The Cardinals allow the second-most amount of points in the league (26.9) and the third-most passing touchdowns overall.

With tranquil weather, Los Angeles should get its offense moving in gear on Sunday.

Cardinals Betting Outlook

At home, Arizona has been a house of horrors this season. The Cardinals triumphed just once in six games so far at State Farm Stadium. With a 4-7 mark, the playoffs are becoming less and less likely.

Kliff Kingsbury sees the writing on the wall if Arizona does not go on a run soon. The Cardinals lost three of their previous four games also while allowing 30+ points in each of those defeats.

The Cardinals’ offense feels and looks lost too often. Arizona topped 400 yards a grand total of zero times so far in 2022. They accomplished that eight times in 2021. Whether it is injuries, Kyler Murray just not getting enough time, or a lack of a consistent running game, Arizona just is not racking up the yards needed to overcome their defense.

Again, this week is problematic as Zach Ertz is out for the season with a knee injury. Murray feels like he does not have that safety valve. James Conner can be that player, but he has not been targeted more than six times once this season.

Arizona cannot get solid running from anyone this season. The aforementioned Conner has averaged 3.1 yards per carry the last two weeks. The Cardinals have not run the balls more than 30 times since Week 4. They won that game.

Again, the Cardinals make costly errors in defeats. They have six of those in their last three losses. The defense has generated just four turnovers in the last month.

Also, it is tough to win when a team just cannot stop the opposition.

That does not appear likely this week.

Chargers vs Cardinals Prediction

This game looks like the over is the best choice.

Both teams have issues on the defensive side. If Murray and Herbert get going early, points could come aplenty. Watch the spread at three, Los Angeles could win by more.

The Pick: Over 48 points (-110) 1 unit

2022 Record: 8-3; Overall: 8-3, +4.5 units
