Typically, I don’t love laying a lot of points with road teams in prime-time games. However, the LA Rams (11-4) are one team I don’t want to step in front of.
Matthew Stafford and company will visit the Atlanta Falcons (6-9) on Monday Night Football in Week 17, and online sportsbooks are expecting a comfortable Rams win in the latest MNF odds. I agree, as I just don’t see how Atlanta can keep up with this juggernaut LA offense.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15pm ET/5:15pm PT from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, in Atlanta, GA, with ESPN providing the broadcast coverage.
Below, you’ll find the latest Rams vs Falcons odds, plus my picks and predictions for Monday Night Football.
LA Rams vs ATL Falcons Odds
Before making any Monday Night Football wager, be sure to consult the best football betting apps. Bet365 is currently offering LA -8 at -110 odds, while most other commercial books have moved the line to -8.5.
Total-wise, the over/under varies between 49.5 and 50.5, with FanDuel offering the best odds on the over, and DraftKings posting the most favorable price on the under.
Per the NFL public betting percentages, the last four Rams games have sailed over the total, thanks to their league-leading offense.
Odds as of Dec. 28. New customers can claim the DraftKings promo code and get a bonus to bet on MNF.
Rams vs Falcons Picks
- Rams -7.5 (-115 at DraftKings)
Full disclosure, I bet LA -7.5 earlier in the week, but would still wager on them at the current spread. The Rams lead the league in most offensive categories, including EPA/play, success rate and points per game.
They’re fresh off hanging 37 points on Seattle’s top-two defense, and are averaging over 37 points per outing over their last five games.
Matthew Stafford is the overwhelming favorite in the NFL MVP odds, while no team has a shorter price to win it all in the Super Bowl 60 odds.
Los Angeles Rams Offense
Stafford leads all qualified QB’s in success rate, and has thrown 7 more TD than anyone else. Number one wideout Puka Nacua is the league’s highest graded receiver per PFF, while the LA run game has been virtually unstoppable.
Kyren Williams and Blake Corum form a tremendous two-headed monster out of the backfield, ranking first and third respectively in rushing success rate.
Defensively, the Rams are incredibly stout in all areas. They rank top-10 in EPA/play, success rate and EPA/pass. No team has allowed fewer rushing TD than LA, while their pass rush is generating pressure at the ninth highest clip.
That spells trouble for the Falcons, who’ve already been eliminated from the NFL playoff bracket.
The Falcons have put together back-to-back wins, but have struggled badly against good teams this season. They were blown out 37-9 by the Seahawks three games ago, and are just 1-3 versus playoff teams so far. Atlanta has been outscored by 51 points in those four matchup, and have dropped their last four outings at home.
Rams vs Falcons Predictions
- Rams Over 29.5 Points (-110 at BetRivers)
LA has cleared 29.5 points eight times this season, and I expect them to do so again on Monday Night Football.
The Atlanta defense relies heavily on blitzing to create pressure, but Stafford eats up opposing defenses when they send extra bodies. LA is the most efficient offense versus the blitz averaging 0.3 EPA/play. For context, that’s a higher EPA/play than 17 other NFL teams in normal situations.
The Falcons are also very exploitable on the ground, ranking 27th in EPA/rush allowed. That signals potential big games for Williams and Corum, who’ve combined to score 9 TD in their last four contests.
