The Micah Parsons saga in Dallas is finally over. On Thursday, the Cowboys agreed to trade Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. Parsons and the Packers immediately agreed to a four-year, $188 million contract.
The mega-trade sent shockwaves through many of the NFL futures, most notably the NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds.

Parsons had been the +750 second-favorite to Detroit’s Aidan Hutchinson earlier in the day on Thursday. But after the trade news, the new Green Bay edge rusher pulled even with Hutchinson at the top of the board. As of 5:16 pm ET, both Parsons and Hutchinson are listed as +700 co-favorites in the NFL DPOY odds.
The #12 pick in the 2021 draft, Parsons has piled up 52.5 sacks in his first four seasons, reaching at least 12 sacks in each season to date. He’s also forced nine fumbled over his career, and recovered four.
Parsons graded as the sixth-best edge rusher in the NFL at PFF in 2024, trailing Hutchinson, Myles Garrett, TJ Watt, Nick Bosa, and Khalil Mack. He won Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2021, and finished second in DPOY voting that same season. He also finished second in 2022 and third in 2023. He was only 17th in DPOY voting last year, but that was largely due to missing a quarter of the season.
Updated Super Bowl Odds
The Packers jumped from +2000 in the Super Bowl odds to +1800, which is the sixth-best number on the board and third best in the NFC, trailing only the defending-champion Eagles (+700) and reigning NFC #1 seed Lions (+1400).

Green Bay’s Week 1 odds also improved. The Packers host the Detroit Lions at Lambeau this Sunday. They opened as a slim 1.5-point favorite and the line remained there as of Monday night. But it’s moved a full point in Green Bay’s direction today.
Lions vs Packers Week 1 Odds
The Packers are now laying 2.5 points with -115 on Green Bay to cover, indicating it could move further. The Packers’ moneyline moved from -122 to -148, while the Lions faded from +110 to +124. The total dropped a full point from 49.5 to 48.5 with -110 odds each way.
