The Baltimore Ravens fired John Harbaugh after 18 seasons, ending the second-longest active coaching tenure in the NFL. The move came despite a three-year extension signed just this past summer, meaning Baltimore is eating guaranteed money to make a change.

Now the Ravens need to figure out who can get this roster back to contention. Kalshi betting markets opened with former Browns HC Kevin Stefanski as the favorite at 40% to become Baltimore’s next head coach, with a handful of offensive and defensive coordinators trailing behind.

Let’s look at the Ravens coaching candidates and where Harbaugh might land.

Why Kevin Stefanski Leads Ravens Coaching Odds

Stefanski won Coach of the Year twice in six seasons with Cleveland, and he’s getting multiple interviews despite the Browns finishing 5-12. The 42-year-old runs a West Coast, play-action heavy system that fits what Baltimore needs.

His offense ranked outside the top half of the league in five of six seasons in Cleveland, including bottom-five the last two years. But you’re betting that with Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, he looks more like the 2020 version than the guy who just got canned.

Baltimore finished 24th in rushing yards per game in 2024. Stefanski’s wide-zone scheme would lean into that identity while setting up play-action shots for Lamar.

Kliff Kingsbury’s Case for Baltimore Head Coach Job

Kingsbury just “mutually parted ways” with Washington after two seasons. He helped Jayden Daniels win Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2024, but injuries and regression led to the split this year.

His spread concepts and RPOs fit what Lamar does best, and he’s developed mobile quarterbacks before with Kyler Murray and Daniels. The red flag is durability. His Cardinals teams faded late and struggled in physical games, which is the opposite of what you want with a 28-year-old franchise quarterback.

Jesse Minter Offers Ravens Defensive Continuity

Minter is a Harbaugh protégé who spent time as a Ravens assistant from 2017-20. He’s the classic “keep being the Ravens, just with a new voice” candidate. His Chargers defense hasn’t ranked worse than 11th in total defense the last two years, and he coordinated Michigan’s title-winning defense before that.

The concern is he’s never been a head coach. If you’re firing Harbaugh in part because the Lamar era stalled, going defense-first again puts a ton of pressure on whoever he hires as OC.

Where Will John Harbaugh Coach Next?

Harbaugh becomes the biggest name available in the coaching carousel, and he won’t be unemployed long. Early odds have the New York Giants as the favorite at +600, followed by Arizona at +1400 and the Raiders at +2000.

The Giants make the most sense. They’re a historic franchise looking to rebuild credibility, and Harbaugh brings instant legitimacy. Arizona would be a full rebuild, which seems unlikely for a 62-year-old with a Super Bowl ring. The Raiders have Tom Brady as a minority owner, which creates an interesting dynamic.

Next Ravens Head Coach Pick and Prediction

Stefanski at 40% makes sense on paper. He’s the safe choice for an organization that doesn’t typically take big swings, and two Coach of the Year awards carry weight. But Cleveland’s offense ranked bottom-five the last two years, and that’s hard to ignore when you’re hiring someone to unlock a two-time MVP.

That being said, I like Klint Kubiak’s fit better at 21%. The 38-year-old just coordinated the third-highest scoring offense in the league with Sam Darnold at quarterback. His wide-zone scheme would get Baltimore’s run game back on track while setting up play-action opportunities for Lamar.

More importantly, Kubiak comes from the Shanahan tree and has worked with mobile quarterbacks. He’s young enough to grow with Lamar but experienced enough to handle a pressure job. Seattle ranks eighth in success rate this year, and that’s without a Patrick Mahomes or elite receiving corps.

The risk is he’s never been a head coach and is described as reserved rather than a big-room presence. But if Baltimore wants to fix the offense first and worry about everything else second, Kubiak is the right hire for this Ravens coaching search.
