The odds for NFL preseason Week 1 have been out for roughly 48 hours. As teams have announced who will play and who will sit, the betting lines have moved drastically. That broad statement applies to spreads, moneylines, and game totals.
The table below juxtaposes the current odds with the opening lines from Monday. The opening odds are listed in parentheses after the current lines.
Updated NFL Preseason Week 1 Odds
The spread has moved by as many four points in some games, and the favorite has completely flipped in two. The biggest game-total move is a full field goal (upward). Bookmark SBD’s NFL odds page to see up-to-the-minute lines throughout the preseason, regular season, and playoffs.

Biggest ATS Line Movement: Commanders vs Patriots (-6.5)
The biggest ATS line movement comes from the Commanders/Patriots game in New England on Friday night. The Pats opened as slight 2.5-point home favorites and modest -148 favorites on the moneyline (a 59.68%implied win probability). As of Wednesday afternoon, the spread had ballooned to New England -6.5, and the Patriots were sitting at -290 on the moneyline (a 74.36% implied win probability).
Washington head coach Dan Quinn announced earlier today that several key players would sit out Friday’s game entirely.
Despite the large movement on the moneyline and spread, the game total has stayed steady at 34.5. That isn’t the case for several other games on the preseason Week 1 docket, though.
Biggest O/U Movement: Chiefs vs Cardinals (38.5)
The most-significant over/under line movement comes from Chiefs/Cardinals, which is scheduled for 5:00 pm PT on Saturday night in Arizona. The game total opened at 35.5, which was already on the high side for preseason Week 1. But as of Wednesday afternoon, that number had jumped to 38.5, which is now the highest total on the board among all 16 games.
The Chiefs were one of the highest-scoring teams in last year’s preseason, averaging a stunning 47.0 PPG and surpassing 38.5 in all three of their 2024 preseason contests.
The latest NFL public betting splits show the over getting 73% of O/U handle and 72% of O/U tickets.
Favorite Flips in Giants vs Bills, Chiefs vs Cardinals
In the vast majority of games, the line has moved toward the favorite. But in two Saturday games, the favorite has flipped since opening. The Giants opened as 1.5-point road favorites at the Bills but now sit as 2.5-point underdogs in Orchard Park. Similarly, the Chiefs were 1.5-point road favorites at the Cardinals; 48 hours later, Arizona is a 1.5-point home favorite.
