- The Miami Dolphins (0-3) have been outscored by 117 points this season
- Â A prop bet on who will win a regular-season game first, the Dolphins or the NBA’s Miami Heat has been released
- The Heat, who don’t start their season until Oct. 23rd, are favored
The Miami Dolphins’ start to the season has been downright embarrassing, but this prop is a whole new level. One sportsbook is letting you wager on who will be the next team to win a regular season game – the Dolphins or the Miami Heat, who won’t start regular-season play until the NFL is approaching Week 8.
Odds on Next Team to Win a Regular-Season Game: Heat vs Dolphins
Outcome | Odds |
---|---|
Miami Dolphins | +110 |
Miami Heat | -150 |
*Odds taken 9/25.
The Heat are favored even though they don’t play a regular-season game until October 23rd. Let’s start with a closer look at both teams’ schedules.
Miami Dolphins’ Upcoming Schedule
There’s little sugar coating just how bad the Dolphins have been so far this season. They’ve allowed 117 more points than they’ve scored, which is concerning considering they’ve only played three games.
That said, the opponents were the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys. Depending which power rankings you look at, those are three of the top five or six teams in the league. Things get a little easier coming up, though, which could provide an opportunity to get a win.
Date | Opponent |
---|---|
September 29th | Los Angeles Chargers |
October 13th | Washington Redskins |
October 20th | at Buffalo Bills |
October 27th | at Pittsburgh Steelers |
November 3rd | New York Jets |
The Chargers have a great roster when healthy but are still battling enough injuries and absences that this week’s game could be close.
But it’s the following game that is a real chance for Miami to pick up a W. In Week 6, they’ll be hosting the winless Redskins after a bye (Oct. 13th). That game comes ten days before the Heat take the court for their season-opener against the rebuilding Memphis Grizzlies.
Miami Heat Schedule
The Heat are the favorites thanks in large part to the Dolphins inability to show anything positive on the field. Miami isn’t expected to be very good on the court either, but they do have a couple of winnable home games right out of the gate. They’ll be sizable favorites at home against the Grizzlies on Oct. 23rd. Realistically, the Dolphins have to pick up a win before Week 8 to win this prop.
Date | Opponent |
---|---|
October 23rd | Memphis Grizzlies |
October 26th | at Milwaukee Bucks |
October 27th | at Minnesota Timberwolves |
October 29th | Atlanta Hawks |
October 31st | at Atlanta Hawks |
The Heat were bad at home last year, going just 19-22, but they also bolstered their roster by adding Jimmy Butler in the offseason; once the year kicks off, they will grab at least one win pretty early on.
Take the Dolphins to Win First at +150
Watching Case Keenum turn the ball over five times last week gives me great optimism the Dolphins can pick up a win, maybe their only win of the year, on October 13th against the Redskins.
PICK: Dolphins (+150)
