Biggest NFL Week 14 Point Spread: Eagles (-12.5) vs Panthers

The biggest point spread in the  Week 14 odds is the Philadelphia Eagles (9-2 on the season and leading the Ravens 14-12 in the fourth quarter in Week 13) laying 12.5 points at home against the Carolina Panthers (3-8 and leading the Buccaneers 16-10 in the fourth quarter in Week 13).

If the Panthers hang onto beat the Bucs, it will be three wins in four weeks from the erstwhile laughing stock of the league. The one loss amongst those three wins was a narrow 30-27 setback to the defending-champion Chiefs on a last-second field goal. In short, the Panthers are playing much better in the second half of the season than they did in the first half, when they compiled a 1-7 record with a -147 point differential.

The Eagles took a seven-game win streak into Week 13, though, with their last defeat coming at Tampa Bay back in Week 4.  The Eagles have an average margin of victory of 15.3 PPG in their seven victories from Week 6 to Week 12.

Highest NFL Week 14 Game Total: Packers vs Lions (51.5 O/U)

The highest game total in Week 14 is, by a sizable margin, in the Packers vs Lions game on TNF, which has an O/U of 51.5. No other game has a total higher than 47.5. The Lions are the highest-scoring team in the league, averaging 31.9 PPG, while the Packers are eighth at 26.5 PPG.

Both defenses have been solid, too, though. Despite losing star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson in Week 6, the Lions have the third-best scoring defense in the NFL (16.9 PPG) and have only allowed more than 20 points once in the last seven weeks. And only one of Detroit’s last five games has gone over 51.5 (a 52-6 thrashing of Jacksonville in Week 11).

Green Bay’s defense sits T10th in scoring at exactly 20.0 PPG and have only exceeded the total of 51.5 once in the last six weeks (30-27 win at Jacksonville in Week 8).

Lowest NFL Week 14 Game Total: Saints vs Giants (39.5 O/U)

The Saints/Giants matchup has the lowest total on the board at 39.5, which is one point lower than Jaguars/Titans. The Giants’ offense has been an absolute trainwreck most of the season and the last seven week in particular, which coincides with their seven-game losing streak. New York has scored more than 20 points just once in that span (a 27-22 loss vs Washington) and has averaged just 13.4 PPG. They’ve been held to single digits four times this year, in total.

The Saints have been considerably better offensively, sitting 11th in the  NFL at 23.8 PPG. Only four of their 11 games to date have stayed under the total of 39.5.
