- The Los Angeles Rams will open as 1-point road favorites over the Seattle Seahawks in the Week 5 NFL Thursday Night Football showdown
- LA (3-1) tasted defeat for the first time this season on Sunday, falling 37-20 to the Arizona Cardinals
- Seattle (2-2) halted a two-game losing streak, winning 28-21 over the 49ers in San Francisco
Maybe the Los Angeles Rams aren’t going to steamroll their way to the Super Bowl after all. And those rumors of the demise of Seattle Seahawks? Might want to hold up on writing those obituaries.
The four NFC West clubs went head-to-head for the first time this season and neither of the expected winners emerged victorious. In a battle of 3-0 clubs at LA, the Arizona Cardinals whipped the Rams 37-20.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks stumbled into the Bay Area 1-2 and losers of two straight. They snuffed out the San Francisco 49ers 28-21.
Oddsmakers are sticking with the Rams over Seattle’s 12th player. As LA heads to Century Link Field for the NFL’s Week 5 Thursday Night Football Affair, it’s the Rams who are opening as the 1-point road favorites. The Rams are 2-3 ATS in their last five games as an away favorite.

MVP Russell Wilson Back For Seahawks
An NFL MVP candidate for much of last season, Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson finally looked like his MVP self in beating the 49ers. He threw for two touchdowns and ran for another.

Wilson was in danger of losing three games in a row for the first time in his career. He wasn’t about to let that happen. Instead, he joined Peyton Manning as the only QBs in NFL history to post 100 victories in their first 10 seasons.
Stats Matt-ford Re-Emerges
During his time with the Detroit Lions, the criticism of Rams QB Matt Stafford was that he put up big numbers but couldn’t win big games. Hence the derogatory nickname Stats Matt-ford.
Granted, his first big win as a Ram came against the reigning Super Bowl-champion Tampa Bay Buccaneeers. Still, left with a chance to put the Rams in the driver’s seat in the NFC West, Stafford took his first pratfall since arriving in LA.
In a matchup of MVP favorites, Kyler Murray completely outplayed Matthew Stafford today.

He was 26-of-41 for 280 yards in the loss. Stafford threw for two touchdowns against one interception, for an 89.5 passer rating.
Of even more concern? Stafford is 0-3 in his career at Seattle. He’s led his team to the end zone just twice in those three games.
Lining It Up
Including last season’s NFC Wild Card loss to the Rams, Seattle has lost two in a row at home. It’s the fifth time over the past five seasons that the Seahawks have dropped two home games in a row. They’ve never lost three straight at home during that span.
This is also a matchup of one of the best (Seattle is 8-2) against one of the worst (LA is 4-7) teams in TNF history. They’ve met twice previously on TNF. Both games were at Century Link Field and both games were won by the Seahawks.
It's really nice that the #Seahawks players and coaches don't listen to all the pessimism on social media. Nice turnaround today. Big road win, nice way to start the divisional games. Onto the #Rams.

This is the first time in 11 games that Seattle is a home underdog. On December 29, 2019, the Seahawks were 3.5-point home underdogs against the 49ers. San Francisco won and covered 26-21.
Nonetheless, based on history and after Sunday’s results, it’s hard to imagine that there won’t be action on the Seahawks at +1. Look for this line to be moving in Seattle’s favor.
