The NFL Week 5 odds have been posted at online sportsbooks. This will mark the first week of the season with byes as the Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, and Pittsburgh Steelers get the week off. It will also mark the first time a team has played two straight games overseas as the Minnesota Vikings travel from Dublin (where they lost 24-21 to the Steelers) to London, where they’ll face the Cleveland Browns.
The table below lists the opening NFL Week 5 odds for all 14 games on the schedule.
Opening NFL Week 5 Odds
The biggest spread of the week is 9.5 points, which is shared by the Texans/Ravens game (BAL -9.5) and Patriots/Bills game (BUF -9.5). The highest total on the board is 49.5, which is shared by a trio of games: Commanders vs Chargers, Lions vs Bengals, and Patriots vs Bills. The lowest total, by multiple points, is 37.5 in Vikings vs Browns in London. Odds as of 6:29 pm ET at ESPN Bet and FanDuel. Opening Vikings vs Browns Odds (London)
After a 24-21 setback to Pittsburgh in Dublin in Week 4, Minnesota stays overseas in Week 5 and will face the Cleveland Browns in London. Minnesota has opened as a 4.5-point favorite. Starting QB JJ McCarthy, who has missed each of the last two games due to an ankle injury, could return for Week 5. Carson Wentz was decent in a 48-10 victory over Cincinnati two weeks ago, but was helped by five takeaways and two touchdowns from his defence. He was 30-of-46 for 300 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and six sacks in the loss to Pittsburgh. The bulk of his passing yards came after Minnesota fell behind 21-6.
Cleveland pulled off a stunning 13-10 upset of Green Bay in Week 3 for its first win of the season, but were then pasted 34-10 by the Lions in Week 4.
Opening Texans vs Ravens Odds Taken Down After Lamar Jackson Injury
The Ravens have opened as 8.5-point home favorites over the Texans, but that was before Lamar Jackson exited the team’s Week 4 game against the Chiefs (while trailing 30-13). He appeared to suffer a hamstring injury
The line was immediately pulled off the board at FanDuel when Jackson was replaced by Cooper Rush. Don’t expect it to come back until Jackson’s status becomes clear.
Opening Giants vs Saints Odds
After rookie Jaxson Dart led the Giants to their first win of the season (21-18 over the undefeated Chargers) in his first career start, New York opened as a 1.5-point road favorite against the still-winless New Orleans Saints, who showed a decent amount of fight in a 31-19 loss at Buffalo as 15.5-point underdogs.
