Tonight’s Sunday Night Football Game is the most important game on the slate. Not because it’s the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens. Not because both teams are in a dogfight for the playoffs. It’s because this game will be our last chance at taking a little cash off the books today. Patriots vs Ravens SGP Leg #1 – Drake Maye Will Throw For More Yards Than Lamar
This game is going to come down to quarterback play. If we’re being honest, 99.9% of all NFL games come down to quarterback play. Still, the quarterback position is a great place to start, which is why we’re starting with Drake Maye of the New England Patriots.
People are already saying he’s basically Tom Brady.
Here’s the deal: this kid has a long way to go before we start talking Tom Brady. Still, the kid can ball, and as the season has gone on, he’s only getting better. Over the last four weeks, he’s thrown for 280+ yards, and he would have last week had the Patriots not been up multiple scores at halftime. The game script messed him up pretty bad in that.
I don’t think Maye will see the same game script this week, but even if he does, it’s a safe bet that he’ll throw for more yards than Lamar Jackson. The Ravens should be able to have success on the ground tonight, which will not only hurt Lamar’s passing yards but will also hurt his play volume. On top of that, Baltimore’s pass defense is one of the worst Maye will see this season. This feels like the sneakiest move we’ve ever made.
NE vs BALT Same-Game Parlay Leg #2 – The Patriots Will Score Points
Sometimes the books give us the perfect parlay piece. A move that is a little too juicy to play on its own, but would fit perfectly with something else. By something else, I mean the Drake Maye most passing yards bet. If we look at the team total market, we’ll find such a bet.
Looking at the Patriots’ team total, it’s hard to find a time when they’ve scored less than 24 points in a game.
Obviously, just because the Patriots have scored 23+ points in 11 straight games doesn’t mean they’re guaranteed to do it again. Still, it’s a hell of a place to start, given the fact that they’ll see a defense that gives it up. Sure, they shut out the Bengals last week, but that may have had more to do with Joe Burrow than anything else. They’ve given up the 10th most passing yards to quarterbacks this season, which usually leads to giving up points. Asking the Patriots to score 21+ points doesn’t feel like a big ask.
In order to use the boost at FanDuel for this thing, we’ll need three legs. What I normally do in a situation like this is just add another team total leg. In this case, it’s the Patriots over 19.5. Obviously, if they score 21+, they’ll hit this too, which is why the price doesn’t change when we add the leg. What it does is give us a third leg, so we’re eligible for the boost. Feels easy.
