NFL Week 8 is underway, and there are just 12 games remaining this week as six teams are on bye this week. There are some large spreads with six teams favored by a touchdown or more, and that includes two double-digit spreads. The Colts are -14.5 vs the Titans, and the Chiefs are 12.5-point favorites over the Commanders on Monday Night Football.

I am targeting two favorites and one underdog in my NFL against the spread picks for Week 8.

NFL ATS Pick #1: Texans -1.5 vs 49ers

The 49ers are coming off a big win over the Falcons to move to 5-2. The Texans, on the other hand, looked terrible on Monday night, losing to the Seahawks to fall to 2-4. So why are the Texans favored in this game?

For one, Houston’s defense is really good. They kept Houston in the game vs Seattle by forcing four turnovers. The Texans are allowing just 3.8 yards per carry and have given up the third-fewest receiving yards in the NFL this season. They will also be playing at home in Houston.

The 49ers are in a weird spot off a primetime win. They have not been great after a win, and they are a much different team on the road. They have been okay away from home this season, but they went 1-7 against the spread on the road last year.

They will be playing in the 1 o’clock window on Sunday, which is not something they are used to. It is a weird line, and I think we see enough from the Texans to get the win. This will be a gross, low-scoring game, and the Texans are better equipped for that kind of matchup at home.

Week 8 NFL Pick: Texans -1.5 (-110)

NFL ATS Pick #2: Ravens -6.5 vs Bears

The Ravens should finally have Lamar Jackson back, and they need him. The Ravens have fallen to 1-5, and it is now or never if they want to turn their season around.

They have a good matchup against the Bears, whose defense has struggled. Chicago has also struggled with penalties in Ben Johnson’s first year as head coach. The Bears are tied for the most false starts and roughing the passer penalties in the league.

This betting line is very telling. In no world should a 1-5 team be favored by close to a touchdown over a team riding a 4-0 straight up and against the spread streak.

Baltimore has been tough to judge because their offense has been nonexistent without Lamar, and they have also played a difficult schedule. The Ravens defense is worrisome, but their offense should have no problem moving the ball on a Chicago defense that has been exploitable.

The Bears are certainly improved, but I am not buying that they are a team that can keep up with the Ravens away from home.

Lamar Jackson is 24-3 against the NFC, and the Ravens are historically good off the bye. Factor that in with the Ravens being desperate, and I believe Baltimore wins this game big.

NFL ATS Pick #3: Steelers +3 vs Packers

Aaron Rodgers is facing his former team on Sunday Night Football, and he is at home to do it.

The Steelers are coming off a tough loss to the Bengals on TNF, but they have had a lot of time to prepare for this game. Coming off of a loss, Mike Tomlin is 61-46 (57%) against the spread. On extra rest, the Steelers are 11-3 against the spread since 2017.

The Packers started the year looking like they would be the Super Bowl champions, but they have not looked as dominant of late. They lost to the Browns, tied the Cowboys, and then found ways to win against the Bengals and the Cardinals. Green Bay is 0-4 against the spread in their last four games, and now they are favored on the road. I cannot trust them in this spot.

I believe this game will be a close one, so I love getting a field goal with the Steelers at home in primetime.
