- In my picks against the spread this week, I am targeting three favorites to cover the spread

It is crazy that we are already at the halfway point in the NFL regular season. After Thursday Night Football, there are 13 more games in NFL Week 9.
Last week featured a lot of big spreads, and it did not matter. Favorites dominated as they went 11-2 against the spread in Week 8. Will that trend continue or will the underdogs bite back in Week 9?
This week also features many spreads of at least a touchdown, so we shall see.
I normally like targeting underdogs, and while I do not see favorites going 11-2 ATS again, I am looking at three favorites to cover the spread in my NFL best bets for Week 9.

NFL ATS Pick #1: 49ers -2.5 vs Giants
I bet against the 49ers last week, but now I am going back to them in Week 9. It was a weird spot for them to play an AFC team on the road after a primetime game. Now, they are still on the road and going to the East Coast, but I expect San Francisco to bounce back.
I am worried about the Giants with the loss of Cam Skattebo. He is a great player on the field, but he also brings the energy off the field, so he is a huge loss to this team. The 49ers are getting healthier on offense, and I trust Robert Saleh and this defense to play well against a Giants offense that does not have many weapons.
San Francisco is used to playing injured, and they find ways to win.
The Giants will have their hands full with Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle, so I expect the 49ers to win this game by at least a field goal. I am getting the better team and the better coach, so bet on the 49ers to get a win on the road.
Week 9 NFL Pick: 49ers -2.5 (-115)
NFL ATS Pick #2: Texans -1.5 vs Broncos
I bet on Texans -1.5 last week, so let’s do it again. Houston is playing their second straight home game, and their defense is no joke.
The Broncos have won five games in a row, and those wins have come in a variety of ways. I expect them to come back down to earth on the road.
Denver’s offense is completely different away from home, and I believe they will struggle to move the ball against a Texans defense that allows under four yards per carry and the fourth-fewest passing yards per game.
Houston’s offense has struggled, but this game has a low total, and those are the games that Houston wins. The Broncos will also be without Pat Surtain, which will help the Texans receivers get open.
This game will be gross, but I am betting on the home team to win and cover the short spread.
- Week 9 NFL Pick: Texans -1.5 (-110)
NFL ATS Pick #3: Seahawks -3 vs Commanders
Heading to Sunday Night Football, I am picking the Seahawks to cover the spread against the Commanders.
The Seahawks have been road warriors under head coach Mike Macdonald. Seattle is 3-0 against the spread away from home this season, and they have won nine straight road games dating back to last season.
Washington is in a weird situational spot playing back-to-back primetime games. The Commanders will be on a short week after losing to the Chiefs on Monday Night Football in Week 8. Jayden Daniels should be back, which helps Washington, but Terry McLaurin will miss this game.
Daniels will have a difficult time in his return against Seattle’s defense. The Seahawks are allowing the second-fewest rushing yards per game at 57.4 yards. They haven’t been easy to throw on either.
The Commanders defense, on the other hand, is vulnerable, especially through the air. They are giving up 260.9 passing yards per game, which is the fifth-most in the NFL. Sam Darnold has been great for the Seahawks, and that should continue on Sunday Night Football.
I am not betting against the Seahawks on the road.
