With two straight wins and coming off a bye week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-5, 2-2 away) look to be turning a corner in what has been a struggle of a season so far.
They’ll try to carry that momentum into Cleveland, where the Browns (3-7, 2-3 home) may have already played their way out of playoff contention before Deshaun Watson is cleared to play in Week 13.
There’s a great equalizer on the horizon, though. The forecast is calling for rain and winds anywhere in the 15-20mph range, with the temperature expected at 48 degrees at kickoff.
Still, oddsmakers are sticking with the Bucs, tabbing them as a 3.5-point road favorite, with a total set at 42.

Tampa Bay Betting Outlook
The Buccaneers found something across the pond that could be vital to their performance the rest of the way: balance.
Rookie Rachaad White ran for a season-best 105 yards in Tampa’s 21-16 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Germany. It’s the first 100-yard game for the Bucs since Week 1, and took huge pressure of Tom Brady and the receiving group to make every single play.
Tampa is ranked last in the NFL in rushing at 70.7 yards per game, and they could be without Leonard Fournette (hip), who’s listed as doubtful. Giovani Bernard (ankle) is expected to come off injured reserve next week.

Tom Brady finished 22-for-29 for 258 yards, with a pair of TD passes against one pick against the ‘Hawks. It’s the first game is six games he’s thrown for multiple TD passes and the second time in the last five they’ve topped 20 points. They’re sixth-worst in scoring at 18.3 points per game.
Thankfully, they’ve been buoyed by one of the leagues’ top defenses. The Bucs held the Seahawks to just 39 yards rushing in 14 carries, while sacking Geno Smith three times, and recording six QB hits overall. They’re allowing just 18 points per game this season – fourth-best in the league.
Cleveland Betting Outlook
The tailspin continues for the Browns, who have now lost six of their last seven games, including last week’s 31-23 loss to the Buffalo Bills. It’s the fourth time during that stretch they’ve allowed 30+ points.
Their defense has been a problem all year. Only the Detroit Lions allow more points per game than Cleveland’s 26.9. Football Outsiders has their defensive DVOA at 31st, and they’re equally inept against the run (32nd) as they are with the pass (27th).

Against the Bills, Nick Chubb could only muster 14 yards on 19 carries, his lowest output of the season. He’s failed to crack 100 yards in four of the last five games.
The Browns’ run game is supposed to be the strength of their attack, as they churn out better than 150 yards per game, which ranks fifth in the NFL. In fact, Cleveland is fourth in total yards per game, at 377.9.
Jacoby Brissett, a former teammate and good friend of Brady’s, had a good outing, throwing for 324 yards and three TD’s in the loss, his second-to-last start before handing over the offensive reigns to Watson.

Buccaneers vs Browns Pick
A week off seems to do Brady good, as his teams are 15-5 straight up coming off a bye. The Bucs have enjoyed better success in this head-to-head, running a 4-1 mark against the spread in the last five meetings with Cleveland.
If the Browns can get its running game going against the Bucs’ D (who surrender 116.6 yards per game), the soggy conditions and Tampa’s low-scoring output could make this a slog.
Then again, Brady knows a thing or two about cold-weather action, and the Browns’ D has allowed the over to go 4-1-1 over the last six.
Let’s stick to the spread, and a Bucs’ side that’s fighting off Tampa for the NFC South crown.
The Pick:Â Â
- Buccaneers -3.5 (-110); 1 unit to win 0.91 units
- Overall: 9-6 ATS, 0-1 ML; 1-0 O/U, -1.35 units
