Texans vs Chiefs SGP Leg #1 – Patrick Mahomes Will Have Problems

Going against Patrick Mahomes at home in a must-win type scenario isn’t always the smartest move. For that reason, we can’t take the Houston Texans’ moneyline or even getting points. It’s simply too dangerous. Nobody wants to bet against Mahomes and then watch him will his guys to a victory. We’ve seen it too many times.

But what we can do is bet against him to have a video game type game tonight.

Here’s the thing with the Texans’ defense: they’re good. Real good. On the season, they’re fourth in the entire NFL in terms of opponent yards per play. Whether it’s at home or on the road, teams just don’t move the ball against them. It’s noticeable. And the way you hold teams to a super low yards per play total is by limiting the passing yards.

On the season, the Texans have only allowed 2354 passing yards, which is fourth best in the NFL. I’m thinking we throw in Mahomes’ rushing yards with his passing yards and then smash the under. The books are giving us 265.5 as a line, which is more than generous. Only one quarterback has gone over that number this season against the Texans, and it was Josh Allen who barely did it. With the game script, Texans defense and the weather, Mahomes should stay under.

HOU vs KC Same-Game Parlay Leg #2 – The Texans Offense Is Not Very Good

When it comes to teams that are really good on one side of the ball, they’re usually not so great on the other side of the ball. It is what it is. It’s hard to be great at everything. So we shouldn’t make fun of the Texans for not being so good offensively. It’s just not that easy.

Look at Steve Spagnuolo trying to come up with nice things to say about the Texans’ offense.

I’m not saying the Texans’ offense is terrible, but outside of Nico Collins, there is nothing exceptional about it. With the defense set up the way it is, the offense never really has to do anything remarkable. Just don’t make mistakes and grind the clock. That’s the recipe for an under if I’ve ever seen one. It’s played out that way, too, because this season, only two of their games have seen 47+ points.

What I’m thinking we do here is throw in an alt line under at 50.5. We’ll need a third leg to use our boost, so what I did was toss in under 51.5 as well. For whatever reason, FanDuel will take that one as well and count it as the third leg even though it has to hit if the under 50.5 hits. I’m sure that will change at some point, but we might as well take advantage of it now. Feels like the move.
