The Pittsburgh Penguins know they are the favorites to win the series against the Blue Jackets, but in game one they found out it won’t be as easy as expected. Game two is this Saturday at 7 PM ET at the CONSOL Energy Center, Pittsburgh.
“We have to learn from it, but we found a way to win,” Pittsburgh forward Sidney Crosby said. “Obviously we didn’t start the way we wanted, getting down two goals. I think we have to clean up some things.”
The Penguins beat the Jackets 4-3 in game one; it was a difficult matchup all around, but they found a way to win.
“I think we expected a tight game,” Penguins Brandon Sutter said after the third playoff goal of his career. “They got up and we stuck with it. It was a good win.
The Blue Jackets want to make this series and a physical one as they had the advantage in hits 4 in the opener of the series.
“In a playoff series you’ve got to do that, you’ve got to target their better players and make it uncomfortable for them,” Blue Jackets forward R.J. Umberger said. “You’re going out there running around trying to kill them, but you’ve got to make it uncomfortable.”
The NHL odds have Columbus listed +168 to win game 2 in the money line, while the Pittsburgh is -185, and the game total is set at 5.5 points.
Columbus is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games when playing Pittsburgh.
