Former Norris division rivals who have fallen on hard times in the last few years meet in Motown on Wednesday, March 8th when the Blackhawks pay a visit to Detroit. Faceoff for this clash is scheduled for 7:30 pm ET and will be broadcast on TNT from Little Caesars Arena.
Below, you can have a look at all the Blackhawks vs Red Wings odds, plus we offer up our best bet and pick for this contest.
Blackhawks vs Red Wings Odds
Game Time | Team | Puck Line | Total | Moneyline |
---|---|---|---|---|
Wednesday, March 8th | Chicago Blackhawks | +1.5 (-129) | O 6 (-103) | +190 |
7:30 PM | Detroit Red Wings | -1.5 (+106) | U 6 (-120) | -235 |
Hoping to snap a season-high tying six-game losing skid, the Red Wings are -235 moneyline favorites when they host Chicago. The over/under is set at 6 goals, with Chicago going under the total just once in their last six road games.
Both teams dealt a number of players at the trade deadline and are truly battling for draft position at this point, with a big league audition for some of their current prospects.

Blackhawks Tanking Hard For Bedard
Presently, the Blackhawks top line combination sees Phillip Kurashev flanked by wingers Lukas Reichel and Andreas Athanasiou. With all due respect to those players, that unit isn’t going to strike fear into too many clubs.
It’s clear the tankathon is on for Chicago, with only one club, the Columbus Blue Jackets, possessing better odds at getting the number 1 overall pick right now and a chance to draft a potential generational talent in Connor Bedard.
Behold arguably the worst roster ever assembled in the cap-era NHL. Blackhawks practice lines:
Reichel-Kurashev-Athanasiou
TJohnson-Guttman-Raddysh
Entwistle-Dickinson-RJohnson
Katchouk-Khaira-AndersonCJones-SJones
Tinordi-Murphy
Englund-Mitchell

Having said that, Luke Richardson’s club has shown they still have their pride. They are coming off a stunning 5-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators who are battling for playoff position and smoked the Red Wings twice last week.
Chicago are very accustomed to playing the underdogs in the NHL odds, and have only been favorites in the NHL betting lines four times all season. They are 27-32 against the puck line as underdogs this year.
Red Wings Playoff Hopes All But Over
Just two weeks ago, the Red Wings were locked in a three-way tie for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Six losses later and Detroit have faded in the NHL playoff odds as they’re now parked in the 13th spot.
2 weeks ago we were talking about the playoffs. Now we're talking about their odds in the Bedard sweepstakes.
The Red Wings' losing streak has now reached 6 games. They take on the Blackhawks on Wednesday.

On the heels of embarrassing back-to-back losses to an Ottawa squad they were fighting with for a Wild Card spot, general manager Steve Yzerman decided to take the seller route at the deadline, getting rid of Tyler Bertuzzi, Filip Hronek and a few others for a boatload of draft picks.
Defensively, the Red Wings have been a mess during this slide, giving up 27 goals over the last six games. Although Chicago doesn’t have many big-name players left, they have won seven of the last 10 meetings between the two sides including a 4-3 overtime victory earlier this season.

If the Red Wings are looking for some sense of optimism as they get set for this encounter and aim to snap their downward spiral, they need look no further than their record against some of the league’s worst. Detroit are 4-1 in their last five vs teams with a .400 winning percentage or lower.
Blackhawks vs Red Wings Pick and Prediction
It’s time for the Red Wings to show that they’re not just going to lay down and roll over for the rest of the year. Unlike the Blackhawks, they have little to no chance of winning the draft lottery and snagging Bedard.
Blackhawks vs Red Wings Same-Game Parlay Picks
Pick | Odds |
---|---|
Detroit Red Wings Puck Line (-1.5) | +106 |
Dylan Larkin Anytime Goal Scorer | +130 |
PARLAY ODDS | Â +270 |
Prior to Chicago’s impressive victory over Ottawa, they had lost four in a row, all by two goals or more. Three of those losses were to teams out of the playoff picture, like Detroit.
You see where I’m heading here? Obviously, it’s tough to bet on a team with so many bad recent performances, but our prediction is that the Blackhawks will be the cure for the Red Wings’ recent woes. Pick Detroit to hand this minor league-looking Chicago team a decisive loss in Motown.
Pick: Detroit Red Wings Puck Line -1.5 (+106)
