The 2027 NHL playoff odds price every team to make or miss the postseason. Carolina (-4500) and Edmonton (-4000) are the strongest make-playoffs favorites at FanDuel as of November 1, 2026.

This page tracks the odds to make the NHL playoffs during the 2026-27 NHL season. The NHL postseason begins in April, as the top three teams in each division, plus four wildcard teams, will compete for hockey’s ultimate prize.

The Eastern Conference race has another injury concern after Florida placed Aleksander Barkov on long-term injured reserve. The Panthers are again among the favorites to reach the playoffs.

NHL Eastern Conference Playoff Odds

• [October 30]: New Jersey strengthens from -161 on October 16 to -465 in consensus odds to make the playoffs, while Boston moves from +138 to -137. Toronto goes the other way, drifting from -102 to +133.
• [October 9]: Detroit drifts from +270 on October 2 to +337 in consensus odds to make the playoffs.
• [October 2]: Buffalo drifts from -230 on September 29 to -121 in consensus odds to make the playoffs, bringing the Sabres close to Toronto at -122. Carolina remains the East’s strongest favorite at -974.
• [September 29]: As the season opens, Florida strengthens from -480 at FanDuel on September 18 to -590 to make the playoffs.

Carolina leads the Eastern Conference at -4500 to make the playoffs, a 97.8% implied probability before adjusting for the sportsbook margin. New Jersey (-560), Tampa Bay (-520), Washington (-430) and Florida (-430) are also favored. Toronto (+126) and Ottawa (-170) face much tighter races for a place in the 2027 playoff field.

NHL Western Conference Playoff Odds

• [October 30]: Minnesota strengthens from -645 on October 16 to -1576 in consensus odds to make the playoffs. Anaheim falls from -175 to +153, while Winnipeg drifts from +155 to +287.
• [October 9]: Winnipeg shortens from +237 on October 2 to +155 in consensus odds to make the playoffs, while Utah strengthens from -217 to -284.
• [September 29]: On opening night, Minnesota eases from -620 at FanDuel on September 18 to -500 to make the playoffs, while Colorado remains the heaviest favorite at -1800.

Make & Miss Odds in Western Conference

Edmonton is the West’s strongest playoff favorite at -4000. Colorado (-3000) follows after leading the NHL with 121 points last season, with Vegas (-1600), Minnesota (-1400), Utah (-850) and Dallas (-530) also favored. Anaheim (+164), Los Angeles (-108) and San Jose (+116) have much less room for error.

Playoff Odds Trends & Analysis

• Florida’s return: The Panthers are -430 to make the playoffs after finishing with 84 points and missing the field last season. Barkov and Marchand resumed skating October 28. Florida said October 29 that Barkov could return in about four weeks and Marchand in about three weeks; neither has been cleared to play.
• Conference Disparity: Last season’s lowest playoff point total was 98 in the East versus 90 in the West. The 2026-27 schedule expands from 82 to 84 games, giving teams two extra games to collect points.
• Coin Flips: Toronto is +126 to make and -162 to miss, while Los Angeles sits at -108 to make and -118 to miss. Buffalo is -128 to make and +100 to miss.
• Plus-Money Playoff Bets: Toronto Maple Leafs (+126), New York Rangers (+172), Columbus Blue Jackets (+350), Pittsburgh Penguins (+320), Philadelphia Flyers (+870) offer plus-money make prices in the East, while Boston is favored at -138. San Jose Sharks (+116), Anaheim Ducks (+164), St. Louis Blues (+130), Winnipeg Jets (+320) are among the plus-money choices in the West. A larger payout comes with a lower implied chance of reaching the postseason.

Toronto adds Kirill Marchenko in its September 28 trade with Columbus. Minnesota remains without Brock Faber, who is cleared for exercise and workouts as of October 30 but still has no game-return timetable.

The Rangers lose Igor Shesterkin for the season with a lower-body injury, leaving Dylan Garand with the starting opportunity; James Reimer signs October 25 to help manage his workload.

New Jersey acquires Connor Hellebuyck from Winnipeg, and Seattle loses Jared McCann for an estimated 10 weeks with a lower-body injury.

Ottawa loses William Eklund for 10 to 12 weeks after ankle surgery, while Chicago gets Connor Bedard back from shoulder surgery.

Detroit suspended Dylan Larkin without pay October 29 after he refused to play while awaiting a trade. His absence adds another concern for the Red Wings.
