The puck drops Thursday night in a battle between two teams currently outside the playoff picture in the Western and Eastern Conferences. The timing couldn’t be better with Missouri sports betting apps now live.
St. Louis (9-11-7, 13-14 ATS) squares off against Boston (15-13-0, 20-8 ATS), with both squads scuffling of late, which has them on the outside looking in for the postseason two months into the campaign.
Action is set to get underway at 7:00 pm ET / 4 pm PT from TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, with ESPN+ and NESN providing the coverage in the United States.
Blues vs Bruins Prediction
- Boston Bruins +1.5 (-190), Over 5.5 goals (-115)
My Blues vs Bruins prediction is that Boston keeps it a close contest, and I’ll take them on the spread, something they’ve really excelled at this year, going 20-8 ATS. Per the NHL odds, our SBD formula has Boston pulling the upset 3.72-3.32, which points to over 5.5 goals being scored. That means the Bruins would obviously cover the +1.5 spread in the Blues vs Bruins contest, which I agree with, and I believe there will be goals aplenty.
It’s fairly surprising the Blues are such heavy road favorites, given the B’s are a better team and 9-5-0 on home ice. Neither team is among the favorites in the Stanley Cup Odds, with both sitting at +15000.
St. Louis is coming off a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Ducks, where starting goaltender Jordan Binnington was pulled after surrendering two goals on five shots. He’s starting in tonight’s battle and has allowed 3+ goals in nine of his last twelve contests (not including when he was yanked last game after giving up the two markers).
The Bruins will counter with Joonas Korpisalo between the pipes, who has struggled to a .880 save % and 3.52 GAA, and has given up 4+ goals in each of his last three starts. He had to relieve Jeremy Swayman after he was pulled versus Detroit, and stopped all nine shots. I expect a high-flying outcome to blow over the 5.5 goal total, much like our SBD model.
STL vs BOS Season Stats/Ranks
Given that their record shows they’ve won just a third of their skirmishes, it’s not a surprise that the Blues have poor numbers across the board, failing to score many goals and also giving up way too many. Boston has exceeded expectations after being the fifth-worst team last year, and their special teams have been very impressive.
Blues vs Bruins Prop Picks
- Morgan Geekie Anytime Goal Scorer (+147 at Underdog Sportsbook)
- Robert Thomas 1+ Shot on Goal (+100 Boost at Bet365)
For a prop bet, I’m going with perhaps the surprise of the NHL season in Morgan Geekie to snipe. He’s racked up a whopping 20 goals in 28 games, good for second-most markers in the league. He’s already surpassed his total (17) from 2023-24 (in 48 fewer outings), and is on pace for 59 goals to shatter his previous career-high of 33, set last year.
If you want to get spicy and parlay the over 5.5 goals total coming to fruition, along with the B’s covering the spread, plus Geekie to record his ninth goal in his last eight duels, that total pays out a cool +600.
We’d also be remiss not to mention this gimme from Bet365 Missouri, who has boosted Robert Thomas to record a single shot from -500 +100. There have only been three instances this season where Thomas hasn’t recorded a shot on goal. Sign up for Bet365 Missouri here and take full advantage (max $10 bet).

The Blues are currently -152 moneyline favorites and are laying 1.5 goals on the puck line at +164. The Bruins come back as a +126 underdog, while the total currently sits at 5.5 goals at FanDuel.
