Boston Bruins Betting Analysis
Perhaps the Boston Bruins are mortals after all – prior to their recent three-game skid (0-2-1), the Bruins hadn’t dropped two in a row for the entire season! This concludes their five-game road trip, which started with a victory against the Canadiens. They’ve followed that with a regulation loss to Tampa Bay 3-2, an OT defeat to Florida 4-3, and a 4-1 trip up to the Hurricanes.
There’s no need for alarm bells to be going off for the B’s, however, as they’re tops in the NHL in points, are third in scoring and average the fewest goals surrendered in the league. It stands to reason that they’re sixth on the PP, and have the NHL’s best PK.

In their most recent matchup on January 14th, it was a tie game with just over a minute to play in regulation, when Boston was able to score to slide past the Maple Leafs 4-3. The B’s have won nine of ten contests following a game in which they scored two or fewer.
Toronto Maple Leafs Betting Analysis
The Toronto Maple Leafs have done a masterful job of weathering the injury bug storm, as they’ve lost the most man games due to injury this season. The most recent ones have seen two-time reigning Rocket Richard winner Auston Matthews sidelined for at least three weeks (knee). Then, platoon netminder Matt Murray’s ankle ailment flared up right before Toronto’s matchup with Ottawa on Friday, and it’ll sideline him for the foreseeable future.
The Leafs recalled Joseph Woll from the AHL, and he could see action in the near future to spell Ilya Samsonov, who has had to shoulder the load of late, with six straight starts. He’s fared well, giving up one or two goals in four of those six affairs.
No surprise, but Ilya Samsonov will start for the Leafs against the Bruins Wednesday, not Boston College alum Joseph Woll.
"It's Sammy game. I'll support him as best I can and be ready," Woll says.

For the campaign, Toronto sits at eighth in goals for per game, and sixth in fewest goals allowed per outing. Their special teams see them as the seventh-ranked on the PP, but middle of the road on the penalty kill.
The over is set at 5.5 goals for this one. Our model has the game going the road squads way, by a count of 3.42-2.91. Toronto has fallen in four of their last five against the Atlantic.

There should be a lot of snipes in this one, with these two squads ranked in the top-10 in goals per game. In seven of their last ten meetings, the over goal total has been achieved. That flies, however, in the face of recent Bruins contests, as the under has gone 5-1-2 in their last eight. However, the total is set at 5.5 for this one, as opposed to the typical 6.5 line.
Bruins vs Maple Leafs Pick
Despite being a phenomenal wagon, Boston has dropped eight of ten road affairs against teams with a home winning percentage of .600 or more. Toronto is 20-4-4 on home ice this year, taking seven of eight. Netminder Ilya Samsonov has been a force at Scotiabank Arena, going 15-1-1.
Bruins vs Maple Leafs Same-Game Parlay Picks
Pick | Odds |
---|---|
Maple Leafs Moneyline | -105 |
Over 5.5 Goals | -125 |
PARLAY ODDS | Â +240 |
With Toronto comfortable on home ice against the B’s, having won nine of eleven, taking them as a slight underdog has value. Boston can’t wait to get back home, having dropped all three consecutive games on the road. In ten of the last twelve battles, these two foes have totaled at least six markers.
Pick: Toronto Maple Leafs Moneyline (-105), Over 5.5 Goals (-125)
