Philadelphia (39-26-12, 90 points) sits third in the Metropolitan and is locked into a wild card spot in the NHL playoff bracket. The Flyers have won two straight and eight of 11, capped by a 2-1 overtime win over Boston on Sunday where rookie Porter Martone scored his first NHL goal in OT.
New Jersey (40-34-3, 83 points) is seventh in the Metro and would need a lot to fall their way to sneak in. Jack Hughes is doing his part with 36 points in 20 games since the Olympic break, and was just named the NHL’s Second Star of the Week.

I’m taking the Flyers on the moneyline for my Flyers vs Devils prediction. Philly is 9-1 straight up on the road over its last 10 games and an identical 9-1 as a road underdog in that same span.

Our projection model has Philadelphia winning by 1.5 goals tonight. Vladar (.905 SV%, 2.43 GAA) gives the Flyers a clear edge in net over Markstrom (.885 SV%, 3.04 GAA), and Tocchet’s group has been the better team for the better part of two months.
The Devils generate way more shot volume (29.83 to 25.58 per game) and have the better power play (22.4% to 15.2%). Philly counters with a physical, blue-collar approach.
