The Edmonton Oilers host the Dallas Stars at Rogers Place this afternoon for Game 3 of the Western Conference Final. After splitting the first two games in Dallas, the series shifts north with everything to play for.
The Oilers delivered a statement performance in Game 2, blanking the Stars 3-0 to steal home-ice advantage. Now back on familiar territory, Edmonton looks to build on that momentum and take control of the series.
Let’s dive into my Stars vs Oilers Game 3 prediction, including my best bets, odds and the unique afternoon start time.
Stars vs Oilers Prediction for Game 3
- Edmonton Oilers Moneyline (-160 at BetMGM)
- Over 6 Goals (-120 at BetMGM)

Edmonton bounced back from a Game 1 collapse with a dominant 3-0 shutout in Game 2, flipping momentum as the series shifts to home ice. The Oilers have been nearly unstoppable at Rogers Place, posting a 4-1 record and averaging over 4 goals per game in those wins.
Stuart Skinner was the story in Game 2, stopping all 25 shots for his third shutout in his last four starts. When he’s dialed in like this, he’s virtually unbeatable. The netminder now boasts a perfect 100% save rate in Game 2 and has given his team the confidence boost they desperately needed.
Connor McDavid continues to drive the offense, leading all playoff performers with 17 assists. He’s been a shooting machine at home, recording 4+ shots in all five home playoff games while consistently generating high-danger chances. The captain has averaged 5.2 shots per game at Rogers Place and cleared 3.5 shots in all five contests.
The advanced metrics heavily favor Edmonton through two games. The Oilers lead in expected goals percentage (52.82%), expected goals for (5.12), and actual goal differential. Perhaps most telling, Edmonton has been the better team at full strength in five of the six periods played – and that’s where playoff games are most often decided.
Dallas faces serious adversity heading into Game 3. The Stars are just 2-4 on the road this postseason, getting outscored 22-9 and shut out in four of those losses. Making matters worse, top-line center Roope Hintz left Game 2 with a foot injury after taking a slash from Darnell Nurse. His status remains unclear, which could be a devastating blow to their offensive depth.
Stars vs Oilers Betting Trends
The shooting percentage disparity tells the story – Edmonton’s finishing ability is double that of Dallas through two games. The Stars have struggled to convert their chances, managing just a 4.76% success rate while Jake Oettinger has faced immense pressure.
History also favors high-scoring affairs in Oilers Game 3s. The last six Edmonton Game 3s have produced seven or more total goals, with five of those high-scoring affairs going down at Rogers Place. The Oil clearly feeds off the crowd and plays high-event hockey upon returning home.
When you combine the home-ice advantage with Dallas’ road struggles and the potential absence of Hintz, the Oilers present solid value at -160. If you fear the juice, the orange and blue are also +100 to win in regulation. Expect Edmonton to protect home ice and take their first series lead.
Stars vs Oilers Game 3 Odds
The Over 6 goals is currently priced at -120 odds at most sportsbooks, with the Under sitting at +100. On the moneyline, Edmonton is favored at -150 across the board, while Dallas returns +130 as road underdogs.
Those backing the Stars +1.5 on the puck line will need to pay a steep -190 price, while the Oilers -1.5 offers an enticing +164 return for bettors expecting a multi-goal victory. Edmnoton is now favored in the Oilers vs Stars series odds.
