  • Vegas opened the 2019-20 NHL season with impressive back-to-back wins
  • The Golden Knights were initially listed at -145 for Tuesday’s matchup with the Bruins
  • Boston has won three in a row versus Vegas

The Vegas Golden Knights couldn’t have asked for a better start to the NHL season. Opening with back-to-back victories over their new arch-rival, San Jose, the Knights enter action on Tuesday night as the -129 moneyline favorites against the Cup-finalist Boston Bruins.

The Golden Knights have scored nine goals in two games. Can they turn in the same performance against the defensively-sound Bruins? Here’s a closer look at the Vegas Golden Knights vs. Boston Bruins odds and stats.

Vegas Golden Knights vs. Boston Bruins Odds

Team Moneyline Point Spread Total Points
Boston Bruins +117 +1.5 (+-215) O 5.5 (-110)
Vegas Golden Knights -129 -1.5 (+185) U 5.5 (+100)

*Odds taken on October 8.

When the lines opened on Monday afternoon, the Golden Knights were heavier favorites at -145. However, the betting lines moved throughout the day before settling at -129 by the late evening.

The moneyline for this game would likely be even narrower if not for how the Golden Knights opened the season. Vegas outscored the Sharks 9-2 over their first six periods of the year.

Golden Knights 2-0 As Favorites This Season

In both of their games against the Sharks, the Golden Knights were favored, despite San Jose knocking them out of the playoffs in the first round last year. Not only did they win those games, but Vegas also covered the puckling in both victories.

It’s early, but goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has been a huge part of Vegas’ early success. The three-time Cup champion has posted a 1.00 GAA and a .965 save percentage through two games.

Deadline-day acquisition Mark Stone has been the team’s most productive offensive player in the early going, scoring a goal and adding three assists in two games to lead the team in scoring, continuing his sublime performance from last last season.

Bruins Battling Injuries Early In The Season

The Bruins are banged up, with veterans David Krejci, Zdeno Chara and Patrice Bergeron all listed as probable for Tuesday’s road game in Vegas. The only real notable injury for the Golden Knights is defensemen Nate Schmidt, who is questionable with a knee injury.

It’s important to note that the Bruins have dominated the head-to-head matchup against the Golden Knights over their last three meetings, though. Boston has won three straight against Vegas, with two of the wins coming by a single goal.

The last time these clubs met last season, the Bruins skated away with a 3-2 road win over the Golden Knights, despite being outshot 33-27 in the game.

Playing the puckline? The Golden Knights are 2-0 ATS while the Bruins are 0-2 this season. They’ve won both their games, but were favored in both and only won by a single tally against the Arizona Coyotes and Dallas Stars.

Vegas Solid On Home Ice

The Golden Knights were dominant on home ice a year ago, posting 24 of their 43 wins at T-Mobile Arena.

That should come in to play before placing a wager on this game, as this will be Boston’s third game on a season-opening road trip.

Sportsbooks have set the total goals for this game at 5.5 with the over coming in as the -110 favorite and the under at even-money.

The game will feature two of the best goalies in the NHL with Fleury and Tuukka Rask and non of the three previous meetings between the Golden Knights and Bruins have gone over the 5.5.

If you’re betting the moneyline, take the Golden Knights to come out on top and move to 3-0-0.

Pick: Vegas Golden Knights (-129)
