After winning the first two games of their second-round series against the Golden Knights, the Oilers fell victim to a devastating Game 3 loss on Saturday night. Following 4-2 and 5-4 (OT) victories, Edmonton dropped a 4-3 contest that saw Vegas score with less than one second on the clock in regulation. A Reilly Smith shot towards the net deflected off Leon Draisaitl’s stick and into the Oilers cage for the stunning defeat. Still, Edmonton remains ahead in the series, 2-1.

Puck drop for Game 4 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta is scheduled for 9:30 pm ET, with coverage on TNT/truTV/Max in the United States and CBC, along with Sportsnet in Canada.

In the Game 4 Golden Knights vs Oilers odds, Edmonton is a -125 moneyline favorite to grab a 3-1 strangehold in the series, giving them a 55.56% implied win probability. A $125 bet would profit $100 if they’re victorious. Conversely, a $100 wager on +105 Golden Knights would return $105.

Our SBD formula has the Knights pulling off the upset 3.50-3.25, meaning the road squad would cover the puck line, and it would be over the 6.5-goal total. In the 2025 Stanley Cup odds, Vegas’ best price can be found at DraftKings at +1200, while Edmonton is +400 at DraftKings.

Can Oilers Put Dramatic Loss Behind Them?

After losing the first two games of the postseason with Stuart Skinner in net, Edmonton turned to backup Calvin Pickard. He led the team to six consecutive victories, but wasn’t able to lace them up in Game 3, something that is the case for Game 4 also. In the three games started by Skinner, Edmonton has lost all three, as he’s surrendered a whopping 15 goals.

The wild ending to Game 3 will sting for a long time if the Oilers aren’t able to bounce back. They also held a 2-0 lead in the outing, but failed to capture that contest, which has given Vegas life. In the series, the Knights are 3-for-9 on the PP, while their adversaries are just 1-for-7. There was some concern that Vegas might not have captain Mark Stone after he left Game 3 with an upper-body injury, but he’s at morning skate Monday, and appears fit to play in this pivotal Game 4.

Vegas hasn’t been able to score at the clip that saw them be fifth in the regular season, but have made up for it with strong special teams. Edmonton leads the NHL, scoring 4.33 goals per game, and has naturally been very effective on the power play. However, their penalty kill has been poor, ranking worst among teams remaining in the postseason.

Golden Knights vs Oilers Game 4 Prediction

With Stuart Skinner between the Oilers pipes struggling this postseason, I’m looking towards seven or more goals being scored. That’s occurred in seven of the Oilers first nine postseason affairs. Skinner has given up 15 snipes in just three starts, all of which that has led to Oilers losses. In all nine Vegas playoff duels, at least five total goals have been scored, with five resulting in seven or more.

As for a prop bet for this Game 4 duel, I’ll select a player that offers plus money, should they get more than one point. The Knights’ Jack Eichel is currently on a six-game point streak, and has two or more points in three of his last five battles. I expect a run-and-gun pond hockey type game, which should aid in him getting a pair of points.

VGK-EDM Prediction:

  • Over 6.5 Goals (-140)
  • Jack Eichel over 1.5 points (+175)
