The New York Islanders (36-23-5, 19-13-3 away) visit the St. Louis Blues (25-29-9, 14-12-6 home) on Tuesday night in a cross-conference matchup with a big narrative attached. Brayden Schenn returns to Enterprise Center for the first time since being traded to the Islanders at Friday’s deadline.
St. Louis comes in riding a season-high four-game winning streak capped by Sunday’s 4-0 shutout of the Pacific Division-leading Ducks. New York got back on track with a 2-1 overtime win over San Jose on Saturday after dropping the first two games of their road trip.
Puck drop is set for 7:30 pm ET from Enterprise Center. Here are my Islanders vs Blues prediction, prop picks and NHL odds.
Islanders vs Blues Prediction
- Under 5.5 Goals (-110 at Bet365)
My Islanders vs Blues prediction targets the under. The goaltending matchup between Sorokin and Hofer is the best shutout artist pairing on the board this season, with a combined 11 shutouts between them. Neither offense is going to overwhelm the other side’s netminder.
The Islanders rank 22nd in goals per game (2.88) and 26th in shooting percentage (10.3%). St. Louis is even lower at 28th in goals per game (2.62). Both power plays are bottom-10 in the NHL, with New York dead last at 15.51% and the Blues at 17.26%.
Islanders vs Blues Key Stats
The under has hit in four of the last five overall meetings between these teams. Games at Enterprise Center have been especially tight, with St. Louis winning four of the last five on home ice, including a pair of overtime wins.
Islanders vs Blues Recent Meetings in St. Louis
The under is also 7-0 in the Blues’ last seven games against Metropolitan Division opponents and 6-1-1 in their last eight following a win. With two of the NHL’s top shutout goalies squaring off, I’m banking on another low-scoring affair.
Islanders vs Blues Prop Picks
- Pavel Buchnevich Over 0.5 Points (-115 at DraftKings)

Buchnevich has 14 goals and 25 assists through 63 games and is the Blues’ PP1 right wing with 13 power-play points this season. He’s found the scoresheet in six of his last eight games and four of his last five against teams with a winning record. At 18:14 of average ice time with 2:34 on the power play, his usage is as high as it gets for St. Louis.
New York’s penalty kill ranks 10th in the league (81.03%), so this isn’t a gimme. But the -115 line implies just a 53.5% probability, and Buchnevich is beating that number comfortably right now. His volume (115 shots on net, 1.83 SOG/game) and an assist in November’s meeting with the Islanders give me enough confidence to back it.
- Tony DeAngelo Over 1.5 Shots on Goal (-176 at FanDuel)

DeAngelo has 125 shots on goal through 64 games, averaging 1.95 per contest. He’s a top-four defenseman logging 19:02 of ice time with PP2 duties, and the situational numbers are hard to ignore. He’s cleared 1.5 shots in 12 of his last 14 games as a favorite and nine of his last 10 road games against bottom-10 scoring defenses.
He had three shots against the Blues in November’s meeting, and the career numbers back it up — 24 shots in 13 games against St. Louis with multiple three and four-shot outings. I like this as a parlay leg with the under.
Islanders vs Blues Odds

The Islanders vs Blues odds have New York as a -125 road favorite at Bet365 with St. Louis at +110 on DraftKings. The puck line is Islanders -1.5 (+210 at Bet365) and Blues +1.5 (-235 at Caesars). The total sits at 5.5, with the over at -105 (Caesars) and under at -110 (Bet365).
The Islanders’ -125 moneyline carries roughly a 55.6% implied probability. The Blues at plus money is interesting given their four-game winning streak and Hofer’s recent form, but New York’s 9-0 overtime record this season gives them an edge if this goes to extras.
The Islanders are 1-4 in their last five trips to Enterprise Center, so the Blues have owned this building in recent meetings.
Islanders vs Blues Starting Goalies
Sorokin vs Hofer Stats
Sorokin leads the NHL in shutouts with six and ranks top-five in save percentage (.914). He stopped 30 of 31 shots (.968 SV%) in Saturday’s OT win over the Sharks. The 28-year-old has been the backbone of New York’s playoff push all season.
Hofer has seized the starting job from Jordan Binnington and hasn’t looked back. He’s won his last four starts, allowing just four total goals on 105 shots in that stretch. Sunday’s 22-save shutout of the Ducks was his fifth of the season. Hofer’s 16-11-3 record is far better than Binnington’s 9-18-6, and the Blues are a different team when the 24-year-old is between the pipes.
