A pair of Western Conference playoff hopefuls square off tonight, as the Kings (23-18-14, 15-7-7 away) visit the Golden Knights (26-16-14, 13-8-7 home). Vegas enters play leading the Pacific division, but sit just 6 points ahead of LA who’s fighting for the final Wild Card berth.

Online sportsbooks are siding with the Golden Knights in the latest NHL odds, and I’m betting the Kings won’t have enough firepower to keep up with Vegas.

Puck drop is set for 7 pm PT, 10 pm ET from T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, NV, with ESPN providing the broadcast coverage.

I’m betting the Vegas moneyline at -130 as my Kings vs Golden Knights prediction. Vegas’ offense has been on fire lately, scoring the second-most goals in the month of January. They’ve started off February with 8 goals through their first two games, and boast a lineup that is significantly more talented than LA’s.

The pending arrival of sniper Artemi Panarin will help close that gap, but he isn’t expected to join the Kings until after the Olympic break.

That means we’re going to have to watch LA try to squeeze out another low-scoring win. The Kings have scored three or fewer goals in five straight games, and in 11 of their last 14 overall. LA ranks second last in goals for this season, and have generated the 12th fewest high danger scoring chances.

LA vs VGK: Advanced Stats Last 10 Games

Vegas, meanwhile, has scored the 11th most goals to date and produced the seventh most high-danger scoring chances. If we shrink the sample size down to the past 10 games, they rank 8th in goals for and fifth in high- danger chances. They feature a top-six power play, and four 20+ goal scorers led by Jack Eichel.

Goaltending has been the one thing keeping the Golden Knights from soaring up the Stanley Cup odds board. I’m not nearly as concerned about the play of Adin Hill tonight, as I don’t expect much firepower from an LA attack that also ranks in the bottom three in shooting percentage.

Also working in favor of Vegas, is improved defensive play in front of Hill. The Golden Knights are allowing less than 25 shots per contest over their last 10 games, and have limited the opposition to 41 fewer high- danger chances than they’ve created during that stretch.

The best place to bet the Vegas moneyline at the time of writing is over at Bet365. They’re offering the line at -130 odds, with FanDuel posting the best number on LA to pull off the upset at +114.

Totalwise, the over/under sits at 5.5 at DraftKings, a line I definitely lean over on. 7 of the past 8 Golden Knights contests have exceeded 5.5 goals, including last night’s 5-2 win versus the Canucks.

Kings vs Golden Knights Lineups

As for Kings lineup, we know Panarin will sit, but the rest of the roster should be intact. Darcy Kuemper took the loss last night against Seattle, paving the way for Anton Forsberg to start tonight. Forsberg faced Vegas earlier this season, and was shelled for 5 goals on 50 shots in a 6-5 shootout victory.

As mentioned, the Golden Knights will turn to Hill again, who’s looking to snap a three-game losing streak. Hill stopped 19 of 22 pucks last time out, failing to record a save percentage north of .865 for the sixth consecutive start. Vegas is relatively healthy in front of him, with Brett Howden and William Karlsson being the only notable skaters sitting out due to injury.
