The Florida Panthers have a golden opportunity to eliminate the Toronto Maple Leafs on home ice in Game 6 tonight. Florida has seized complete control of the series, winning three straight games in convincing fashion.

In lieu of their commanding 3-2 series lead, the Panthers are heavy -240 moneyline favorites in the Game 6 Maple Leafs vs Panthers odds. Florida’s steep price as home chalk speaks to their utter dominance over the last three games, outscoring the Leafs 12-5 during that span.

The total is holding steady at 5.5 goals, with slight juice to the Over at -115. While these teams have exceeded this number in four of the five games so far, oddsmakers are clearly expecting a tighter-checking affair with Toronto facing elimination.

I’m backing the red-hot Panthers to light the lamp at least four times in this potential series-clincher. Florida has scored 4+ goals in five of their seven playoff wins, showcasing their offensive firepower and ability to break games wide open.

The Panthers’ scoring depth has been on full display, with a whopping 17 different players finding the back of the net this postseason. Coach Paul Maurice is getting contributions from every line, which makes this team a matchup nightmare.

In Game 5 specifically, the Panthers hung six goals on a beleaguered Leafs squad, chasing Joseph Woll from the net. Woll has struggled in relief of Anthony Stolarz, posting an .877 save percentage and -2.7 goals saved above expected (GSAx). He’s a clear weakness that Florida will look to exploit early and often.

It’s not just Woll’s struggles though – Toronto’s entire defensive structure has fallen apart. They’ve been outscored 12-5 over the last three games and are hemorrhaging high-danger chances against. The Panthers are controlling over 60% of the expected goals at 5-on-5 during this stretch.

Florida’s forecheck has completely disrupted the Leafs’ breakout, leading to quick transitions the other way. The Panthers are averaging a hefty 33 shots per 60 minutes across their three-game win streak, consistently testing Toronto’s overmatched goalies.

At home, the Panthers will have last change and the ability to get their top lines out against the Leafs’ bottom-six. Those are matchups that heavily tilt the ice in Florida’s favor.

The Panthers haven’t trailed in over 170 minutes of game time and will be playing with supreme confidence in front of a raucous home crowd. The Leafs, meanwhile, are splintering under immense pressure and have made baffling lineup decisions.

I don’t see Toronto having any answers for the Panthers’ waves of attack. Florida’s depth and quick-strike transition game will simply be too much once again. Expect a flurry of rubber directed at Woll and the Panthers to hit the Over 3.5 on their way to a series-clinching victory.

Toronto is a +195 moneyline underdog in Game 6, with Florida listed as heavy -240 home chalk. The Leafs are -133 to cover the +1.5 puck line, while the Panthers are +115 to prevail by 2+ goals. Florida’s runaway success over the last few games has made them a steep favorite to advance tonight.

The total is holding at a reasonable 5.5 goals, although there’s a bit more juice on the Over at -115. After seeing these offenses light it up early in the series, oddsmakers are expecting a tighter-checking elimination game as Toronto faces the prospect of another embarrassing first-round exit.

Maple Leafs vs Panthers Start Time

This pivotal Game 6 gets underway at 8:00 pm ET / 5:00 pm PT at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. TNT will carry the American broadcast, while SN has the Canadian TV rights.

Toronto has stumbled to a 2-3 record on the road this postseason after going just 23-16-2 as visitors during the regular season. The Panthers have lost just once at home in these playoffs (3-1) and boasted an impressive 29-9-3 regular-season mark in their own barn.
