The puck drops Wednesday Night, featuring a pair of Western Conference foes that have exceeded expectations thus far in the campaign.
Utah (12-12-3, 10-17 ATS) is just one point back of a Wild Card playoff spot, while Anaheim (16-9-1, 15-11 ATS) is in the top spot of the Pacific Division after missing the postseason the last seven seasons.
Action is set to get underway at 10:00 pm ET / 7 pm PT from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, with TNT/HBO Max/truTV providing the coverage in the United States.
Mammoth vs Ducks Prediction
- Anaheim Ducks Moneyline (-108)
My Mammoth vs Ducks prediction is that Anaheim will take care of Utah on the moneyline. Neither team is among the favorites in the Stanley Cup Odds, with both around +5000.
Utah started the season sizzling, winning eight of their first ten, but since then, they have imploded with a 4-10-3 record. In the last 17 duels, the Mammoth have a ghastly 5.0% power-play clip and have come in dropping four straight in regulation.
Anaheim, meanwhile, is 9-3-0 on home ice and have won four of five against the Mammoth franchise at the Honda Center, though they are dealing with some ailments.
The Ducks have shown they can outscore their problems all season, ranking second in snipes per battle. They’ll have to rely on that again, considering they’re down to their third goalie in Ville Husso due to injuries to Lukas Dostal (upper body) and Petr Mrazek (lower body).
Husso gets the nod in this matchup, and though it hasn’t been confirmed just yet, Karel Vejmelka is likely the Utah netminder. He’s dropped four of six career skirmishes versus the Ducks.
Utah vs Anaheim Season Stats/Ranks
Utah is in the bottom half of all these categories, ranking worst in the NHL on the power play. They have the worst points percentage since the hot start to the campaign, fourth worst in scoring and seventh to last in allowing markers.
Anaheim’s numbers are a bit befuddling, but they’ve been able to outscore a lot of their issues, ranking second in the league with 3.62 goals per duel. The goals against is worrying, particularly with goaltenders Lukas Dostal and Petr Mrazek now injured and relying on their depth.
Mammoth vs Ducks Prop Pick
- Logan Cooley Anytime Goal Scorer (+282 at Underdog Sportsbook)
For a prop bet, I’m going with the Mammoth leading goal scorer in Logan Cooley, who has 14 snipes on the campaign. He has longer odds than the top-five players on the board to register a goal, so there’s solid value in selecting him, particularly with the Ducks down to their third goalie.
He scores goals in bunches or not at all, leading to slightly longer odds, but Cooley potted four goals five games ago, and has registered a tally in two of his last three vs Anaheim (including this season).
If you want to get spicy and parlay the Ducks to win on the moneyline, yet Cooley to still score against them, that total pays out a cool +620.

Mammoth vs Ducks Odds

Odds via FanDuel Sportsbook as of 2:30 p.m. ET on Dec 3.
It’s a true pick’em with both squads sporting identical -110 odds to win on the moneyline in the NHL odds. You’d need to wager $110 on the winning team to take home $100. The total is set at 6.5 goals on FanDuel, with the over slightly favored. Anaheim is +205 to take it on the puckline, while Utah is -265 to keep the contest within a goal.
