Six Kraken defensemen already have accounted for at least two points. Hayden Fleury scored a pair of goals in their last game, a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild.

For the Rangers, Adam Fox, the reigning Norris holder, leads the team over the last five games with five points. Fox also tops the club in scoring for the season with eight points.

Forwards Chris Kreider of the Rangers and Brandon Tanev of the Kraken each have netted three goals over the past five games. Kreider leads the NHL with five power-play goals.

Tanev has scored a team-leading six goals this season. Forward Jared McCann (3-4-7) is the club’s leader in points.

Rangers tough guy Ryan Reaves (lower body) was placed on IR on Friday. That means he’ll be out a minimum of seven days.

For the Kraken, former Rangers forward Colin Blackwell (lower body) is out. Forward Mason Appleton (lower body), goalie Chris Driedger (undisclosed) and forward Marcus Johansson (lower body) are out.

Forward Max McCormick was recalled from AHL Charlotte by the Kraken.

Rangers’ Shesterkin Coming Off Shutout Win

New York netminder Igor Shesterkin is coming off a 31-save performance in a 4-0 shutout of the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday.  Shesterkin ranks third in the NHL in save percentage (.944) among goalies who have started at least three games this season. The Rangers are fifth in the NHL with a 2.25 GAA.

Philipp Grubauer, who backstopped the Colorado Avalanche to the Presidents’ Trophy last season, is off to a slow start. He’s posted a below-average .897 save percentage. Grubauer made 30 saves in the win over the Wild.

With back-to-back games – the Kraken are in Edmonton to face the Oilers on Monday – Seattle coach Dave Hakstol indicated that there’s a chance Dreidger could be activated from IR and get the start in one of these two games.

Seattle has won back-to-back games over the Montreal Canadiens and Minnesota Wild by a combined score of 9-2.

The Rangers are 5-2-1 overall, good for third place in the Metropolitan Division. More significantly, they are a stellar 4-1 on the road this season as they begin a four-game trip at Seattle. New York has won five of the last six games and are the play in the NHL odds.
