Second place in the Pacific is on the line Thursday night. The Edmonton Oilers (35-28-9, 79 points) hold a one-point edge over the Vegas Golden Knights (32-26-14, 78 points) with 10 games left for each team, including two against each other.
Vegas has gone 5-10-0 since the Olympic break and scored just five goals in their last five games. Connor McDavid scored his 400th career goal in Tuesday’s 5-2 win over Utah.
This one airs on ESPN+ at 9:30 pm ET from T-Mobile Arena. Here are my Oilers vs Golden Knights prediction, picks and NHL odds.
Oilers vs Golden Knights Prediction
- Under 6.5 Goals (+100 at Caesars)
Vegas can’t score. Five goals in five games, shut out twice, and they’ve fallen behind 3-0 in seven of their last 14 contests. The under has hit in 6 of the Knights’ last 6 games, 5 of their last 5 on one day’s rest, and 5 of their last 5 after allowing two or fewer goals in the previous game.
The H2H trends point the same way. The under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Vegas and 7-3-2 in the last 12 overall. Vegas also allows just 24.29 shots per game (3rd fewest in the NHL), so Edmonton won’t get a ton of clean looks either.
Money has been coming in on Vegas on the moneyline, which moved from -120 earlier today to -135 at DraftKings. But Vegas simply isn’t generating enough offense to push this game over the number. My Oilers vs Golden Knights prediction is on the under at 6.5.
Oilers vs Golden Knights Key Stats
Both teams carry an identical .875 save percentage, among the worst marks in the NHL. Edmonton’s power play leads the league at 31.0%, but Vegas’ penalty kill ranks fourth at 82.1%.
The Knights are also the most disciplined team in the Western Conference at 7.51 penalty minutes per game, so the Oilers’ man advantage may not get many looks.
Oilers vs Golden Knights Picks
Turning to the props market, I’ve got a pick from each side for tonight’s national showdown.
- Evan Bouchard Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+112)
Bouchard has cleared 2.5 shots in 7 of his last 8 games following an Oilers win (87.5% hit rate), averaging 4.2 per game. The Edmonton defenseman had three assists in Tuesday’s win over Utah and matched his career high with 82 points this season.
At +112, I like getting plus money on a prop with an 87.5% hit rate over an eight-game sample.
- Mitch Marner Over 0.5 Assists (-115)
SPORTSBOOK
I’m wrapping up my Oilers vs Golden Knights prop picks with Vegas’ top playmaker. Marner has recorded an assist in 6 straight games against Edmonton, averaging 1.5 helpers per game in that stretch.
He’s centering Vegas’ second line and will see plenty of ice time in a game with major NHL playoff implications.
Oilers vs Golden Knights Odds
Vegas is -135 at DraftKings and has been getting sharper money throughout the day, moving from -120 earlier. Edmonton is +115 at Fanatics. The puck line has the Oilers at +1.5 (-210) and the Knights at -1.5 (+185).
The Oilers vs Knights total sits at 6.5 with the over at -114 at FanDuel and the under at even money at Caesars. Even money on the under is the best value on the board given Vegas’ offensive drought.

Oilers vs Golden Knights Betting Trends
The under trends for Vegas are overwhelming right now. The under has cashed in 6 of the Knights’ last 6 games, 5 of their last 5 on one day’s rest, and 5 of their last 5 after allowing two or fewer goals previously.
Edmonton is the opposite on the road. The over has hit in 5 of the Oilers’ last 6 road games. But that trend runs into a Vegas team allowing the third-fewest shots per game in the NHL.
On the side, the Oilers have won 5 straight in Vegas and 4 of the last 4 meetings overall. The road team is 6-2 in the last 8 H2H matchups. Vegas is 1-4 in their last 5 overall and 1-5 in their last 6 following a loss of 3-plus goals.
Oilers vs Golden Knights Starting Goalies
Both goalies are confirmed. Connor Ingram gets the call for Edmonton after sitting out Tuesday’s win. The 28-year-old has a 2.98 GAA and .883 save percentage in eight March appearances (4-2-1), but allowed eight goals on 42 shots over his last two starts before the rest.
Adin Hill starts for Vegas. The 29-year-old has a 2.35 GAA and .888 save percentage over his last nine games (4-5-0). He allowed three goals on 20 shots in Tuesday’s 4-1 loss to Winnipeg.
Oilers vs Golden Knights Goalie Stats
Edmonton is still without Leon Draisaitl (lower body, out for regular season), Trent Frederic (undisclosed), Mattias Janmark (out for season), Colton Dach (LTIR), and Curtis Lazar (IR).
Vegas is missing William Karlsson (lower body, won’t be ready for playoffs), Carter Hart (leg), and Jonas Rondbjerg (lower body). Both Karlsson and Hart have resumed skating.
