The 2025 Stanley Cup Final won’t begin until Wednesday, June 4th, but that hasn’t stopped oddsmakers from releasing Panthers vs Oilers odds for the 2025 rematch. This matchup became official Thursday night after the Oilers eliminated the Dallas Stars in Game 5.

The Panthers vs Oilers odds show Florida as slight favorites after winning in a wild seven-game series last year. The key reason Florida aren’t heavier favorites? The Oilers hold home-ice this time around.

Here’s a look at the early 2025 Stanley Cup odds for Panthers vs Oilers.

2025 Cup Final Schedule

The 2025 Stanley Cup Final will begin Wednesday, June 4th. TNT will carry every game in the United States, while CBC will broadcast the action in Canada.

Panthers Favored to Repeat as Cup Champions

Oddsmakers are showing respect to the reigning Cup champs, pricing Paul Maurice’s club as short favorites over the Oilers. Florida has looked dominant throughout the postseason, recently dispatching the Hurricanes in just five games in the Eastern Conference Final.

The Panthers have arguably the deepest team in the NHL, with 19 players registering at least one point in the 2025 postseason. Aleksander Barkov paces the team in scoring with 19 points, while Sergei Bobrovsky has been a rock in goal with a .912 save percentage and 2.11 goals against average.

Florida’s penalty kill could be the key to repeating as Stanley Cup champions. The Cats lead the playoffs with an extremely efficient 87% penalty kill, which will be pivotal facing an electric Oilers’ power play that just struck multiple times in the Western Conference Final.

There are some positive Panthers injury updates, as Sam Reinhart and Nikko Mikkola both returned in Game 5 vs Carolina after missing the previous game due to injury. The extra time off should only help them heal further.

Oilers Underdogs in Cup Final Odds

Edmonton opens as the betting underdog in the Cup Final after coming up just short last season. They fell behind 3-0 in the series before storming back and forcing Game 7. The Oilers should be the hungrier team and will hold that key home-ice advantage.

The Oilers advanced to the Final by eliminating the Stars for the second straight year, this time in just five games. Edmonton chased Jake Oettinger with two early goals on two shots, before Connor McDavid silenced the crowd with an electric second-period goal.

The Oilers have the most explosive offense in the playoffs, averaging 3.93 goals per game. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl lead the playoffs in scoring with 24 and 23 points, respectively. Meanwhile, Evan Bouchard has been phenomenal on the back-end with six goals and 17 points.

A key storyline for Edmonton is the season-ending injury to forward Zach Hyman, who scored twice in last year’s Final. The good injury news, however, is that workhorse Mattias Ekholm returned from injury in Game 5. Connor Brown remains sidelined, but he should return for the Final.

Expected Panthers vs Oilers Odds Movement

There is almost a week layoff before the Cup Final starts, leaving plenty of time for money to come in and impact this betting line. Where will that money be going? We expect the public to hammer the Oilers, for a variety of reasons.

Edmonton came just one win away last year, and now have home-ice advantage. They also have the world’s greatest player in McDavid, plus the added revenge element. When Sidney Crosby and Wayne Gretzky went to their first Cup Finals, they lost, but beat the same opponent to win the following season.

We will make our Panthers vs Oilers prediction closer to Game 1, but we don’t have a strong lean for the winner. Losing Hyman is a massive blow, but this Oilers team has proven they have players who can step up. However, Florida is the closest “built for this” playoff team we’ve seen in some time.

If you are looking to bet Florida, it could be smart to wait for the public money to come in on the Oilers and see if you can get a better price. However, there will likely be some sharper wagers on Florida that will make the oddsmakers hesitant to move the line too much.
