A berth in the second round of the NHL playoffs will be up for grabs on Sunday when the Florida Panthers visit the Boston Bruins for Game 7 of their first-round matchup.
The Panthers forced a seventh and deciding game with a gutsy performance on home ice on Friday night, twice overcoming one-goal deficits in the third period on their way to a 7-5 victory that leaves the series knotted at three games apiece.
Game 7 start time is set for 6:30pm ET at TD Garden, with all the action televised on NESN, Bally Sports – Florida, and SportsNet.

Panthers vs Bruins Recent History
With Friday’s victory, the Panthers became the first team to win consecutive games in this series while ending a run of four straight wins by the visiting team. The Panthers have also won two of three series contests in Boston, ending a five-game losing streak at TD Garden.
This marks the Panthers’ first appearance in a Game 7 since dropping a 3-2 overtime decision to New Jersey in first-round action in 2012. Florida is 1-1 all-time in Game 7 situations, while the Bruins are winless in their past two Game 7 appearances, and are 2-2 in their past four on home ice.
Florida Panthers Betting Outlook
The Panthers once again turned in a gritty physical performance in Game 6. Florida took a 3-2 lead into the third period, which they surrendered on a pair of early goals in the final frame. However, on the strength of a full team effort, they took control in the second half of the period, sealing the win with three answered goals.

Overall six different Panthers skaters found the back of the net in Game 6, including Aleksander Barkov, who finally potted his first goal of the series to give the club a 3-2 lead, and has now recorded three points in two games. Matthew Tkachuk was once again Florida’s top performer, scoring twice and adding an assist in his fourth multi-point performance of the series.
Boston Bruins Betting Outlook
A dominant defensive force while racking up an NHL-record 135 points during the regular season, the Bruins unexpectedly find themselves facing elimination in the first round of this year’s playoffs at the hands of a squad that has given them trouble all season. Indeed, of the Bruins’ 20 total losses this season, five have come at the hands of the Panthers.
And with Florida scoring 11 total goals in their two recent wins, questions linger as to whether Jeremy Swayman will get the call in net over a bruised and beleaguered Linus Ullmark.
#NHLBruins Head Coach Jim Montgomery says he has no regrets with his personnel decisions thus far. He says a goaltending decision hasn't been made for game 7 yet, but compared putting Jeremy Swayman in to Roger Clemens in game 7, or Tom Brady with 2 minutes left in the playoffs. pic.twitter.com/hxF16wvESG

On a positive net, the duo of David Pastrnak and Tyler Bertuzzi has remained red-hot on offense. Both Bertuzzi and Pastrnak scored twice for the Bruins in Game 6, and have accounted for a third of the team’s 24 goals in the series.
The Bruins’ special teams have also been firing on all cylinders, scoring three times on the power play and once short-handed in Game 6.
Bruins vs Panthers Game 7 Prediction
The regular season records mean nothing as this series goes to a decisive Game 7. However, that is not reflected in the game line odds, where Boston remains heavy chalk despite losing two straight at home and scoring just two total goals at regular strength while losing Games 5 and 6.
With all the pressure on the Bruins to take their season to the next level, and facing concerns about goaltending, the value once again lies in taking this scrappy Panthers squad to complete the upset with another win in what promises to be a nasty and entertaining series finale.
The Pick: Panthers (+200); UNDER 6.0 (+100)
