Playoff lives are on the line tonight as the Nashville Predators travel to take on the Los Angeles Kings. Both Western Conference squads are deadlocked in the standings, making this a pivotal clash for postseason positioning.

The Predators currently cling to the conference’s second wild-card spot in eighth place, riding a two-game winning streak into enemy territory. Meanwhile, the Kings sit just outside the playoff picture in ninth place and will look to build on a recent victory to vault back into contention.

Online sportsbooks are siding with Los Angeles in the latest NHL odds, which I believe opens up value on the road underdog.

I’m betting the Predators moneyline tonight, who have looked like the more reliable team down the stretch. Nashville has been a formidable force controlling the neutral zone on the road and dominating struggling squads, while the Kings have continuously faltered in their own building.

The statistical trends overwhelmingly support a Nashville victory. They’re 5-1 in their last six games following a win, and 4-1 straight up over their last five contests away from home. LA meanwhile, is 5-13 straight up over its last 18 home games, and 1-12 in their own building following a victory in their last 13 outings.

Given Los Angeles’ inability to build on home victories and Nashville’s proven track record of handling business on the road, locking in the Predators on the moneyline is my favorite play on the board.

If you are looking for a reliable NHL props bet on the Los Angeles side, Trevor Moore’s shot volume is a premier target. Moore has been heavily relied upon to generate offense, particularly against teams that have shown defensive vulnerability. He’s exceeded 2.5 shots on goal in 5 of his last 6 games against opponents with a losing record. Across that six-game span, Moore is boasting an 83% success rate to the over while averaging a robust 3.5 shots on goal per game.

Nashville’s captain Roman Joisi meanwhile, is instrumental in the Predators transition game and power play. Backing him to record at least one helper comes with highly favorable situational trends, especially in road matchups. He’s recorded an assist in 4 of his last 5 games on the road, and in 4 of his last 5 games against opponents with a losing record, averaging 1.0 assists per game in both scenarios.

As for the Predators vs Kings starting goalies, it’s shaping up to be a battle between Jusse Saros and Anton Forsberg.

While his 3.14 goals-against average and .894 save percentage fall short of the goalies playing for Stanley Cup odds contenders, his sheer durability and ability to weather constant pressure have been the backbone of Nashville’s wild-card push.

On the other end of the ice, Forsberg steps into the LA net. Having played in 31 games, Forsberg has operated with a significantly lighter workload compared to Saros, facing just about half the total shots (817). However, Forsberg has provided high-end efficiency when called upon, holding a steady 2.74 GAA and a .903 save percentage with two shutouts.
