Nashville (28-27-8, 11-14-5 away) and Seattle (29-24-9, 16-11-5 home) are both hanging around the fringes of their respective conference playoff races. The Predators have lost four of five and are fading fast. The Kraken are 5-2 in their last seven at home but got torched 7-4 by Ottawa on Saturday.
Seattle owns the best all-time record against Nashville of any team in the NHL (8-4-1, .654 points percentage), outscoring the Preds by a full goal per game in the series.
Puck drop is at 10 pm ET on ESPN+. Here’s my Predators vs Kraken prediction, picks and odds.
Predators vs Kraken Prediction
- Under 6 Goals (-110 at Bet365)
My Predators vs Kraken prediction is on the under. The trend data is almost impossible to ignore. The under has hit in four of the last five meetings in Seattle, four straight Nashville road games, and five of the Kraken’s last five overall. Both teams rank bottom-10 in goals per game (Nashville 21st at 2.92, Seattle 24th at 2.84).
Predators vs Kraken Key Stats
Nashville’s power play ranks ninth in the league (22.99%), and Seattle’s PK is dead last at 72.62%. That looks like a mismatch on paper, but the Kraken have gone five straight games without allowing a power-play goal, the longest active streak in the NHL. The Preds won’t have an easy time cracking that unit while it’s rolling.
Nashville also allows 81.9% of its goals at even strength, the highest rate in franchise history. Their problems come at 5-on-5, not on the penalty kill. Against a Seattle team that ranks fourth in save percentage (.900), I don’t see the Preds putting up enough to push this over.
Predators vs Kraken Picks
- Chandler Stephenson Over 0.5 Points (-134 at Caesars)
Stephenson’s career scoring rate against Nashville is 1.33 points per game (24 points in 18 games), the fifth-highest rate by any active player against the Preds all-time.
Nashville is his highest career average against any opponent. He had four goals and seven assists in the Kraken’s last 10 games heading into Saturday, so the recent form is there too.
- Matthew Wood Anytime Goal (+380 at Caesars)
Wood scored a power-play goal in Saturday’s loss at Buffalo, his ninth road goal this season. Only Montreal’s Oliver Kapanen has more road goals among NHL rookies.
Wood is getting top-six minutes and PP time alongside Roman Josi, and at +240, there’s value on a kid who keeps finding the net away from home.
- Jared McCann Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-102 at Caesars)
McCann has cleared 2.5 shots on goal in all five of his last meetings against Nashville, averaging 3.4 per game in that stretch. At -104 this is near even money on a top-line forward who centers Seattle’s first unit with Beniers and Eberle. He’s the Kraken’s best pure shooter, and this is one of his best matchups.
Predators vs Kraken Odds
Odds as of March 10 via consensus sportsbooks. Grab the DraftKings promo code to bet on tonight’s NHL odds.
The Predators vs Kraken odds have this as a near pick’em, with Seattle a slight home favorite at -110 (Bet365) and Nashville at -105 (Caesars). Both teams are +1.5 on the puck line at -240 and -275 respectively.
The total is split between over 6 (-110 at Bet365) and under 6.5 (-135 at DraftKings), so there’s a gap between books on where the number sits. I’m targeting the under regardless of where it lands.
Saros vs Grubauer Stats
Saros has allowed three or more goals in 13 consecutive starts, the longest streak in Predators history. Only San Jose’s Yaroslav Askarov has had a longer run this season (15). Grubauer has been inconsistent himself, going 2-3 in his last five starts, but his season-long numbers (.900 SV%) are far more trustworthy.
Predators vs Kraken H2H History
Predators vs Kraken Recent Meetings
Nashville is 1-5 in the last six meetings in Seattle. The Kraken have outscored the Preds 3.46 goals per game in the all-time series, the highest average by any team against Nashville. The Kraken own the Predators at Climate Pledge Arena.
