The New York Rangers (20-19-6) are on the road to take on the Boston Bruins (23-19-4) in an important, intra-conference Saturday matinee. This game carries great weight for both teams as the Rangers are four points back of a Wild Card spot while the Bruins sit just two shy of the Buffalo Sabres.

New York is limping into this contest. They’ve dropped five of their past six games and have lost a pair of stars – Adam Fox and Igor Shesterkin – to injury along the way. Meanwhile, Boston has won three of its past four contests.

Puck drop is set for 1:00 PM ET from TD Garden and will be aired on ESPN.

Let’s dive into my Rangers vs Bruins prediction, as well as player props, odds, and projected lineups.

Boston has done a much better job of keeping the puck out of the net with Jeremy Swayman between the pipes, especially on home soil. Swayman has won seven of 11 home decisions while allowing an average of just 2.58 goals per game.

He is no doubt chomping at the bit to play the Rangers, who have struggled to put the puck in the net even at full health. They rank 29th in goals per game (2.58) and have shown little dynamism in attack.

Predictably, their numbers are even worse without star defenseman Adam Fox. The Rangers have posted putrid averages of 23.43 shots and 2.29 goals through seven games without Fox.

It’s unlikely we’ll see an uptick in production against Swayman. He has dominated below-average offenses this season, posting a 6-1-1 record, .921 save percentage, and 2.48 goals against average through nine games against teams ranking bottom-10 in goals per game.

Scoring isn’t likely to come easy for the Bruins either. The Rangers rank 7th in goals against per game (2.78), and backup Jonathan Quick is more than serviceable, possessing a .911 save percentage through 12 appearances.

The Rangers also know they have to lean on structure and a defense-first approach without the firepower Fox brings. Their games without Fox have featured an average of 4.58 total goals, with five of the seven featuring five goals or less.

Rangers vs Bruins Props To Target

William Cuylle Over 1.5 shots on goal

The Bruins have given up a high volume of shots this season, ranking bottom-10 in shot suppression. Cuylle has feasted against teams near the basement in that regard, recording multiple shots in nine of 13 games while averaging 2.6 shots per contest.

Morgan Geekie Anytime Goal

Geekie has piled up the goals in Boston all season, finding twine in 13 of 22 games. He enters play in the longest goal drought since October of 2024 (eight games), and is a threat to get on track against an undermanned Rangers team he already scored against this season.

Rangers vs Bruins Odds

Bet TyperRangersBruins
Spread+1.5 (-230)-1.5 (+184)
Moneyline+108-130
TotalO 6.0 (-122)U 6.0 (+100)

The Bruins are trading as -130 favorites, implying they have a 56.5% chance of victory on home ice. The Rangers sit as +108 road underdogs, implying a 48.1% chance they pull off a slight upset in Boston.

The puck line has Boston at -1.5 (+184). The price tag is quite fruitful if you think the Bruins pull out a win as six of their past seven victories have come by multiple goals.

Jeremy Swayman should be back between the pipes for the home side after getting a rare night off last time out. He has enjoyed plenty of success against the Rangers in his career, allowing just 12 goals over the past six meetings.

Jonathan Quick is expected to get the nod again for New York. He’s yet to face the Bruins this season, but stopped 32 of 33 in his start against them last year.
