  • The Rangers are -128 moneyline road favorites over the Bruins on Friday, Nov. 28th
  • New York has the most road victories despite tied for fewest home triumphs
  • See my Rangers vs Bruins predictions below, plus prop pick and lineups

The puck drops Friday afternoon, featuring a pair of Original 6 rivals in the New York Rangers duking it out with the Boston Bruins.

New York (12-11-2, 13-12 ATS) is last in an incredibly tight Metro division that has everyone within five points, while Boston (14-11-0, 18-7 ATS) is clinging to third place in the Atlantic, which is also a very competitive division.

Action is set to get underway at 1:00 pm ET from TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, with TNT/HBO Max providing the coverage in the United States and Sportsnet in Canada.

Rangers vs Bruins Prediction

My Rangers vs. Bruins prediction is that the game will fall under the posted total of 5.5. Neither team is among the favorites in the Stanley Cup Odds, with New York +3300, and Boston a whopping +15000. Inconsistent offenses contribute greatly to those odds.

Historically, this matchup favors the Rangers, who have gotten the better of their counterparts in five of the last six skirmishes, with half the games resulting in over and of course half under the 5.5 goals listed goal total.

Five of Boston’s last six duels this season have led to five or less combined goals being scored, and that’s also the case in five of the last seven Rangers battles. For that reason, I really like the +114 odds for the under 5.5 goal total in this one. ESPN Bet has the odds of -145 for under 6.5 goals, if you’re so inclined to want that.

New York is paced by Artemi Panarin and Adam Fox, who have 22 points each, but that’s only tied for 40th most in the NHL this year. For Boston, David Pastrnak has 29 points, which is tied for eleventh, and Morgan Geekie has 23 points, but is second in the league in goals (17). Without massive offensive outputs for both teams, that’s another reason I like the under goal total hitting.

The goaltending matchup hasn’t been confirmed as of posting, but Igor Shesterkin and Jeremy Swayman would likely be the goalies, given that each team has had a day of rest. They both rank inside the top-eight in save percentage among netminders who have competed in at least ten games (Swayman .915%, Shesterkin .911%).

The Rangers have been an incredible Jekyll-and-Hyde team this season, on the road compared to at home. It’s been unfriendly confines at Madison Square Garden, where they’re a ghastly 2-7-1, yet are amazingly 10-4-1 away from MSG. However, NYR have dropped three of four in regulation on the road. Boston has won eight of twelve at TD Garden, where this game is being contested.

New York has really struggled to score, but have been elite at keeping the puck out of their net, and have middling special teams. Boston has been an upper-echelon squad on both the PP and PK this year.

Rangers vs Bruins Prop Pick

  • Morgan Geekie Anytime Goalscorer (+160)

For a prop bet, I’m going with perhaps the surprise of the NHL season in Morgan Geekie to score yet again. He’s racked up 17 goals in 25 games, good for second-most snipes in the league. That matches what he contributed in 2023-24, but that took him 51 more contests to do it. He’s potted five in his last four outings after putting up 33 goals last season.

If you want to get spicy and parlay the under 6.5 goals total coming to fruition, plus Geekie to record a goal, that total pays out a cool +450.

Odds via FanDuel Sportsbook as of 1:30 p.m. ET on Nov. 27.

The Rangers are currently -128 moneyline favorites and are laying 1.5 goals on the puck line at +194 odds. The Bruins come back as a +106 underdog, while the total currently sits at 5.5 goals at FanDuel. The implied win probability of NYR at -128 is 56.1%. You’d need to wager $128 on the favorites to win $100, while a $100 bet on the underdogs clears $106.

Per the NHL odds, the road squad is the favorite in this Rangers vs Bruins original 6 contest with New York a 10-4-1 savant away from MSG. Our SBD formula has New York coming out on top 3.24-3.11, which points to Boston covering the +1.5 spread and under 6.5 goals being scored.
