Neither of these teams has a path to the NHL playoff bracket, but there’s still plenty to bet on. The New York Rangers (28-34-9) visit the Toronto Maple Leafs (30-29-13) at Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday, with both clubs sitting 15th and 16th in the Eastern Conference.
The Rangers are in freefall with five straight losses (0-4-1) and managed just 10 shots on goal in Monday’s loss to Ottawa. Toronto beat the Bruins 4-2 on Tuesday but is playing the back end of a back-to-back, and no team allows more goals per game in that situation this season (4.15).
Puck drop is set for 7:30 pm ET. My Rangers vs Maple Leafs prediction, picks and NHL odds are below.
Rangers vs Maple Leafs Prediction
- Over 6.0 Goals (-120 at Bet365)
Neither team can keep the puck out, and both save percentages sit below .900. The over has hit in 8 of New York’s last 9 road games against bottom-10 scoring defenses and in 6 of their last 7 away games overall.
Toronto has been even more vulnerable at home. The over has cashed in 5 of their last 6 home games following a loss and in 3 of their last 4 at Scotiabank Arena. The Leafs also allow 4.15 goals per game in the second of back-to-backs, the worst mark in the NHL.
Rangers vs Maple Leafs Key Stats
Toronto allows 32.01 shots per game, giving the Rangers’ power play (23.8%) a chance to do some damage. Both teams have sub-.900 save percentages and struggle to suppress scoring chances.
My Rangers vs Maple Leafs prediction is on the over at 6.0.
Rangers vs Maple Leafs Props
I’ve got two props for my Rangers vs Maple Leafs picks on Wednesday.
- Gabe Perreault Over 0.5 Points (+126 at DraftKings)
The Rangers rookie has recorded a point in 4 straight road games, averaging 1.5 per game in that stretch. Perreault has four goals since Artemi Panarin was traded to LA in early February and has carved out a top-line role alongside Mika Zibanejad and Alexis Lafreniere.
Plus money on a hot rookie against a leaky Toronto defense is a good spot.
- Vladislav Gavrikov Over 1.5 Shots on Goal (+105 at BetMGM)
Gavrikov has cleared 1.5 shots in 8 straight games against bottom-10 scoring defenses, averaging 2.38 per game. The veteran defenseman has six goals since Jan. 27, third most on the Rangers in that span.
Plus money on a 100% hit rate over an eight-game sample is tough to pass up. That rounds out my Rangers vs Maple Leafs props.
Rangers vs Maple Leafs Odds
Despite the five-game losing streak, the Rangers are -122 road favorites at DraftKings. Toronto is +108 at FanDuel on the back end of a back-to-back. The puck line has New York at -1.5 (+200) and the Leafs at +1.5 (-220).
The total is split between O 6 (-120) at bet365 and U 6.5 (-125) at DraftKings. Six of the last 10 Rangers/Maple Leafs games in Toronto have gone to overtime, with the teams separated by just four total goals in those contests.

Rangers vs Maple Leafs Where to Watch
Tonight’s game airs on TNT in the U.S. and Sportsnet in Canada as part of Wednesday Night Hockey. Streaming is available on Max, ESPN+ and Sportsnet+.
Igor Shesterkin is the likely starter for New York. The 30-year-old owns a 22-15-6 record with a 2.55 GAA and .912 save percentage in 44 starts.
Toronto hasn’t confirmed a starter, but Joseph Woll is expected to get the call on the back end of a back-to-back. Woll has a 14-13-6 record with a 3.17 GAA and .904 save percentage in 34 appearances.
Toronto is without Auston Matthews (knee surgery, out for season) and Chris Tanev (abdominal surgery, out for season). New York is missing Matt Rempe (thumb, out for season), Noah Laba (lower body) and Urho Vaakanainen (upper body). Jonathan Quick (upper body) is day-to-day.
