Two teams fighting for playoff spots on opposite sides of the bracket meet Saturday night at Climate Pledge Arena. The Ottawa Senators (30-22-9, 16-12-4 away) are four points out of the final Wild Card in the East. The Seattle Kraken (29-23-9, 16-10-5 home) currently hold the last spot in the West.

Ottawa has been one of the best teams in hockey since late January, going 7-1-2 over their last 10. Seattle has been tougher to read, winning five of their last six at home but scoring two or fewer goals in four of their last five games overall.

Ottawa has owned this series recently, winning five of the last six meetings and shutting Seattle out three times in the last five. The Senators have outscored the Kraken 17-11 in that stretch, with 16 of those 17 goals coming at even strength. Power plays haven’t been a factor in these games (combined 5.3% and 5.9% PP conversion), so the team that wins the 5-on-5 battle usually wins the game. That’s Ottawa.

Since January 25, the Senators have the fourth-best record in the NHL (.800 points percentage) and are allowing just 2.10 goals per game, the fewest in the league over that span. Seattle is third-fewest at 2.45, so both teams have been stingy lately.

The faceoff circle is where Ottawa can take control. The Senators rank third in faceoff win percentage (54.58%) while Seattle sits 25th (48.10%). That gap matters in a tight game where zone starts can dictate possession.

Stutzle is on an 11-game point streak with 10 goals in his last 16 games. If he keeps that pace, he’ll be the first Senator to hit 40 goals since Daniel Alfredsson in 2007-08. I’ll back Ottawa on the road against a Kraken team that has struggled to score.

Stutzle has 29 goals and 36 assists this season and scored in Thursday’s 4-1 win in Calgary. He now has three 11-game point streaks in his career, tying Daniel Alfredsson for the most in Senators history. Only Connor McDavid has matched that since the start of last season.

Seattle’s penalty kill ranks dead last at 72.29%, and with Stutzle running the top power-play unit, he’ll have chances with the man advantage. At +190, this is strong value on a player who has been one of the hottest in the league.

Cozens has been on fire, scoring four goals with an assist and 11 shots on goal over his last four games. He has 48 points on the season, and here’s the wild part: 54.2% of those points have come on the power play, the highest rate in the NHL among players with at least 30 points.

Against a Kraken penalty kill that’s even worse than Ottawa’s, Cozens should have multiple looks with the man advantage. He picked up a power-play goal in Thursday’s win over Calgary.

Ottawa’s -160 moneyline carries roughly a 61.5% implied probability. The under has hit in four of the last five meetings between these teams, but the over is 9-1-1 in the Kraken’s last 11 against Atlantic Division opponents. I lean slightly toward the over given both penalty kills sitting in the bottom two, but the goaltending keeps me off it as a formal pick.

Ullmark gets the nod for Ottawa after stopping 19 of 20 in Thursday’s 4-1 win in Calgary. His season numbers (18-8-7, 2.81 GAA) don’t jump off the page, but he’s been sharp recently with a .950 and .913 SV% in his last two starts. Grubauer is expected for Seattle with an 11-8-3 record and 2.53 GAA, though he’s dropped two straight.
