Notre Dame vs Oklahoma Probable Pitchers

The Fighting Irish got a valiant effort from John Bertrand in their game against Texas and they will be hoping for the same here when Temple takes the bump. The fifth-year graduate transfer was solid for Notre Dame this season, going 4-1 with a 3.87 ERA in 14 starts.

Although he did struggle with control at times, walking 34 in 68 innings, Temple also struck out 87 batters. Temple tossed three innings in Game 1 of the Super Regional against Tennessee, giving up two runs and three hits.

Over on the other side, Oklahoma should feel confident with Horton taking the ball. He’s surrendered only five earned run across his last three outings (17.1 innings) against some very solid programs in Texas, Florida, and Georgia Tech.

His ERA for the year sits at 5.58 which is by no means great, but it’s clear Horton has been able to step up when the lights are brightest. That’s a good sign for Sunday and he’ll definitely have his work cut out for him versus Notre Dame’s surging offense.

ND Riding a High

The Fighting Irish are the Cinderella story of this College World Series. They pulled off the unthinkable in the Super Regionals, beating the No. 1 ranked Tennessee Volunteers. This is the first time in 20 years that Notre Dame is in Omaha and they made sure to make their presence felt on Friday night, taking down the Longhorns.

Jared Miller went deep in the first inning to get things started on the right foot for the Irish, collecting two of his team’s 11 hits in the 7-3 win. Bertrand was solid on the mound, going 5.1 innings and allowing three earned before handing over the ball to the bullpen who shut Texas down. Carter Putz capped off the victory with a solo shot in the ninth, too.

Sooners Coming Off Offensive Clinic

Oklahoma’s bats sure came to play on Friday, defeating Texas A&M 13-8. Every single hitter reached base in this contest and six players collected at least one RBI. The Sooners made a statement early on, taking an 8-0 lead by the second inning, with Jackson Nicklaus leading the charge with a grand slam.

The bullpen wasn’t great though, allowing the Aggies to claw their way right back into the game. Jake Bennett put forward a solid start, throwing six innings of four-run baseball before David Sandlin came in and surrendered another four runs in 0.1 innings. Thankfully, Trevin Michael calmed down A&M’s lineup with 2.2 flawless innings to close things out.

Notre Dame vs Oklahoma Prediction

We have two offenses that are thriving right now. But, it’s pretty tough to bet against the Fighting Irish right now. They just took out the best ballclub in the country and then ran riot on a very good Texas team as well. I’m liking the moneyline for ND here. Expect Temple to keep throwing the ball well and the bats to show up again.

Pick: Notre Dame moneyline (-125)
