Canada and Finland will face off Thursday in the semifinals of the 2026 Winter Olympics men’s hockey tournament in Milan. Both teams enter play coming off dramatic come-from-behind victories in the quarterfinals.

Nick Suzuki scored late in regulation to tie things up against Czechia before Mitch Marner played hero in overtime, scoring on a beautiful individual effort. Finland’s victory over Switzerland was similarly dramatic. They trailed 2-0 late in the 3rd period but equalized with just 72 seconds remaining and went on to win in the extra frame.

The winner of this contest will earn the opportunity to play for a gold medal, while the loser will need to pull out a victory in their next contest to win bronze.

Puck drop is scheduled for 10:30 am ET and can be watched on CBC and Peacock.

Connor McDavid has been a scoring chance machine for the Canadians. He is leading the team in shots (20), slot shots (16), and inner-slot shots (10) through four games.

He has dominated the puck and been very aggressive in attacking the net. With a pair of Hart Trophy candidates in Macklin Celebrini and Nathan MacKinnon by his side, teams can’t cheat towards McDavid as much as they’d like to.

He should get some extra ice time in an elimination game (likely) without captain Sidney Crosby. Canada will be leaning on the big dogs as much as possible to get them to the gold medal game.

Canada also has last change as the higher seed, which means Jon Cooper will have the ability to get his star-studded top line in more favorable matchups. That will mean a few less shifts against the Miro Heiskanen pairing.

Canada vs Finland Same-Game Parlay Pick 2: Cale Makar 4+ Shots On Goal

Cale Makar leads Canada in ice time, tallying 85 minutes through four games. That’s a healthy number considering three of those contests weren’t overly close.

The Czechia game went to overtime, of course, but Makar logged nearly 27 minutes of ice in that contest. I think he could be heading for that kind of workload against Finland, especially after having such a scare last time out.

Makar has generated more shots on goal than everyone on the Canadian roster except McDavid. He’s the most gifted offensive defenseman in the world and will see more ice than anybody, giving him every opportunity to pile up the shots.

Canada vs Finland Same-Game Parlay Pick 3: Artturi Lehkonen 1+ Points

Believe it or not, Lehkonen is tied for 1st among Finnish players in points and has recorded more slot chances than anybody on the roster. He has played very well. The coaching staff has rewarded him for his efforts, promoting him to the top line with Sebastian Aho and Mikko Rantanen.

Lehkonen has a great nose for the net and is always looking for loose change in tight. Jordan Binnington has struggled with rebound control at times, and Lehkonen is most likely to take advantage.
