They saved the best for last in Milano Cortina on Wednesday, as the final quarterfinal matchup of the day features hockey superpowers Sweden and USA. The two teams enter play tied for the second-most goals for thus far (16), behind only Canada.

Sweden vs USA Props #1: Matt Boldy Anytime Goalscorer

Boldy, not Matthews, Jack Eichel or any other higher-profile American currently leads Team USA in shots on goal. The Wild Forward has fired 14 shots on net so far, managing to find the back of the net just once. Boldy has also accumulated a team-high 9 slot shots, and it’s only a matter of time before more pucks start going in.

Boldy has scored 32 times with Minnesota this season, converting on 18.5% of his shot attempts. Contrast that with his Olympic performance so far, where only 7% of his attempts have resulted in goals. Positive regression is coming, and I’m betting it starts this afternoon.

The Swedes allowed seven goals to Finland and Slovakia combined, the two best teams they’ve faced. Both nations pale in comparison to the Americans, who own the second shortest gold medal odds ahead of the quarterfinals.

Sweden vs USA Props #2: Joel Eriksson Ek Anytime Goalscorer

• Joel Eriksson Ek Anytime Goalscorer (+370 at FanDuel)

At the other end of the rink, it’s going to be tough to get too many pucks past reigning Hart Trophy odds champion Connor Hellebuyck, but don’t sleep on Joel Eriksson Ek to get the job done.

Entering the quarterfinal round, no player has more shots on goal than the Swedish forward (21). He also leads the tournament in inner slot shots with 13, and ranks only behind Leon Draisaitl in overall slot opportunities (14).

Despite the abundance of chances he’s generated, he’s only managed 1 goal. I expect that to change, as Eriksson Ek plays on the powerplay and leads the team in total ice time. The price is right at +370 and it’s not like he’s never had success versus Hellebuyck before. Eriksson Ek has multiple career goals against Hellebuyck, including a hat trick performance as a member of the Wild.

Sweden vs USA Props #3: Jack Hughes 1+ Points

I’m rounding out my Sweden vs USA props card with 1+ points for Jack Hughes. Note, not every sportsbook is offering Hughes props, but Bet365 is so make sure you check them out.

Hughes is flying under the radar in the tournament, but he’s made the most of his 12 minutes of ice time per game. Hughes leads the Americans in total chance contributions per 60 minutes with 28.32, and trails only Canada’s Connor McDavid in chance assists with 14.99.

He has 5 more chance contributions than any of his USA teammates, yet nine other Americans have shorter odds than Hughes to record a point. That doesn’t compute, and I’ll gladly take the value on him getting on the scoresheet at +120 odds.
