Harvick Has Good History

Harvick is a reasonable option here because he’s won the Duels twice before. He’s typically very competitive as he hasn’t placed worse than seventh in any of his last 10 starts here. That includes four straight Top 4 finishes. He won his heat race last year while leading for 44 of the laps.

The downside here is that he doesn’t have a great Daytona 500 record as he hasn’t won since 2010. However, these pre-Daytona 500 races have been kind to him. He has posted three straight Top 5’s and four straight Top 10’s at the Busch Clash. He’s picked up five wins in the non-championship events.

Busch Has Been Competitive in Duels

Kyle Busch is the defending NASCAR champion but he’s not a great bet at the Daytona 500. In 29 starts there, Busch has just one win and nine Top 10’s. However, he hasn’t had much success of late. He’s finished 14th or worse in five of his last six starts at the Daytona 500.

The difference here is that he has some good success with the Duels. In this last nine Duels, he has picked up three wins. He’s also had a pair of Top 5’s in that same time frame too. If you do find some props on the board, Busch might make sense as a good Top 5 flier.

What About Kyle Busch?

We covered Kyle Busch but what about his brother, Kurt? He actually has a better track record at the Daytona 500 in some regards. He placed 10th in last year’s race, which is his only Top 10 in his last five starts there. However, he still has five Top 10 there in his last 10 appearances.

As far as the Duels go, Kyle Busch has had some reasonable success. In the 2019 race, he placed fifth overall and he matched that result in 2018 too. In 2017 and 2016, he placed third in each year. That makes it four straight Top 5 results at the Duels. He looks like a good bet to finish in that range once again.
